Manchester United open to selling Lingard

|

Chief Manchester United writer for the Manchester Evening News claims Jesse Lingard could yet be sold

He writes “The club has invested £115.9million on Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane this summer but have placed an emphasis on permanent sales.

United are open to selling squad players Jesse Lingard, Andreas Pereira and Phil Jones before the transfer window closes on August 31″

Lingard has received no formal offer of a new deal from Manchester United, despite boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer publicly stating he is part of his plans.

Four days ago the former Hammer confirmed he has tested positive for Coronavirus and will be forced to self isolate for ten days.

This morning the 28-year-old announced on social media Really gutted to have tested positive after a good pre-season, luckily I feel fine and will follow the guidelines and be back with the boys on pitch very soon! Thank you for your support”

Lingard looks set to miss the start of the Premier League before he can return to full training.
West Ham still holds out a small chance he will change his mind and join the Hammers permanently if he did not feature in the opening games for Manchester United but he will need to regain full fitness just to be avilable for selection for the Red devils.

Interestingly, players now have ultimate say on where they are sold, Lingard may decide to run his contract down and sign for a handsome fee as a FA. next summer….

IMHO it reminds me of the Inbetweeners ‘Joe’ and his pursuit of ‘Carli D’Amato’…….

This would not be a surprise to anyone really if he was to be sold but the big problem was not whether he would be sold but more so the asking price, if United are asking for 30m for a player who is out of contract in 12 months then we have a real problem. West Ham would be incredibly stupid to pay 30m for a player who they can sign for nothing in 12 months or 5-7m in January.

I think we should bid 15million and test the waters. He was so good last season, we should make an effort at least. a bid cant be accepted. if it doesn’t happen.
