It’s that time of matchday when the great — and the not-so-great — of Claret & Hugh deliver their predictions ahead of West Ham’s trip to Old Trafford this evening.
Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim has suggested the Red Devils could be without two senior players tonight, but he might easily be playing possum… who really knows?
Following Leeds United’s 3–1 win over Chelsea last night, West Ham now need a two-goal victory to climb out of the Premier League relegation zone.
Optimism in Short Supply at C&H Towers
It’s fair to say confidence is not overflowing at C&H HQ, with Matt Kemp predicting:
“2–0 Man Utd and no shots on target by West Ham!!”
— a grim repeat of the Liverpool performance.
Martin hasn’t even entertained the idea of a contest, going with:
“4–0 Man U”
followed by a suitably miserable emoji.
Sean Whetstone, ever the optimist, reckons West Ham will sneak a 1–0 win. And at this point I should give a shout-out to Pete — who keeps the website running behind the scenes. He’s going 3–0 West Ham, but let’s be honest… Pete knows far more about IT than he does about football. Sorry mate.
As for me? I think we’ll lose 2–1.
I’d love to believe we can grab something at Old Trafford, and Manchester United are far from brilliant — but like Matt, I just don’t think we have the firepower to seriously trouble even an average Premier League side right now.
I’d like to think that we’ll come away with something more than nothing but we likely won’t. I’ll stretch what’s likely and predict a 1-1.
Cannot be a worse day than last weekend, like what sort of day starts with the news that Billy Bonds has passed, and it continued bad from there.
We’ll do We’ll to get nil
Utd are rubbish but not as rubbish as us and the refs always help them out so I suspect a loss but you never know without Paqueta we might surprise
