Mancini’s name is in the frame

|

biliiicmanciniRoberto Mancini has emerged as a front runner to replace Slaven Bilic as West Ham manager, should results not improve significantly says the London Evening Standard.Β The Zenit St Petersburg boss is the bookies second favourite behind Newcastle manager Rafa Benitez if West Ham decide to make a change says the London paper.

Normally we would write this off as media speculation in the middle of the International break but the article’s author is none other than the very well connected Ken Dyer.

Former Manchester City boss Mancini was linked with West Ham last season, when Bilic found himself under pressure following a run of poor results, and the Italian was spotted at a West Ham match.Β His position has not been helped by co-owner David Sullivan revealing that Bilic turned down Grzegorz Krychowiak, who went to West Brom on loan from PSG, and Renato Sanches, who joined Swansea from Bayern Munich for the season.

Not the answer, even if he was willing to do the job…

Agreed. What’s the fascination with foreign managers who only get results with massive budgets. Personally, I’d rather see us give someone like Eddie Howe or Sean Dyche a punt.

Agreed Rather go for Jokanovic not a Mancini. Someone can speak their mind tactical astute spirited multiple plans. We don’t need a big name manager we need a manager on the up. And he plays lovely football. Take Wagner any day but he wouldn’t leave Huddersfield. Don’t see Dyche coming. And know the board will go for big name first.
And looks like the writing is on the wall for Bilic tho I wish he would speak out publicly about players offered car etc. Stand up for yourself Slav what u have to lose

    Went to grifindor though.

Worth bearing in mind that it is not just a question of who we want. I know in the end most likely candidates will take a job if you pay enough, but after recent events the queue for the job may not be a long one.

Give who ever takes over 3 months & they won’t be the answer according to the wise monkey fans 64.A couple of defeats & they will be the worst manager on the planet πŸ˜‚
They won’t play the formation the armchairs want, they will be picking the wrong players, they won’t be playing enough youngsters. It will be history repeating itself whether it’s Benitez,Mancini or Mike Bassett 😁

Most of the foreign managers made their names by producing the goods at smaller clubs and progressing. Not every one of them got elevated straight into a big name club with huge budgets.
Most foreign manager deserve a fair crack of the whip as much as British managers.
This misconception that they can only operate with huge budgets is baloney for the majority of them.

Sounds about right Rads. When we win a couple, the board will stick with Bilic until his contract ends at the end of season so they can save a few quid anyway. But given a choice, I’d like us to consider Brendan Rodgers, if he was mad enough to give up on CL football, a guaranteed double every year and loss of control of transfer activity!

  • WattZy91 says:

Sick and tired of hearing the whole ‘we need an English manager’ line. WHY? What have any English managers done in recent years that warrants the obsession we have with them?! I’d much rather someone who has come through the ranks at a club in somewhere like Germany where they have actually learnt over the last 10 years how to improve a squad and get the most out of their players. The English system is flawed from top to bottom, and English managers (bar maybe Eddie Howe currently) are all pretty much the exact same.

That,s down to the old school tie brigaid mate !! Dinosaurs run the English game and it ain’t gonna change anytime soon , it probably the cause why we have so many foreign managers in our league anyway πŸ˜‰

    • Tim says:

Agreed Wattzy. Its a stupid stereotype that foreign managers can only manage successfully because of big budgets.

    • TRB says:

We don’t need an English manager……and besides, there isn’t one good enough available. Arsenal, Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool, Everton, Man City and United would each have one if they thought that it was the way to go. It isn’t!

  • Lazurus. rises like a salmon says:

Bilic ain’t gone yet , let’s see how it pans out !!! It’ll take its own course now , the board , bilic and the players have to produce so get behind them and see if we can help em on Monday
Its a game of football I’m after not a game of thrones !! Doesn’t matter what we say at the end of the day the powers that be make the decisions, for now at least , you’re probably right jimbo a win on Monday puts everything on the back burner , its a waiting game so all the speculation means jack shyte at the present !!!
Let’s get 3 points and get a different mood in place ! If not attack πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
    COYI πŸ˜‰

  • TRB says:

If Mancini (or anyone else) is genuinely ‘in the frame’ then David Sullivan has already decided to sack Slaven Bilic. I never believe any of this newspaper speculation……. and besides, it’s far too early to make a decision. It would be better to wait to see how results go over the next two months. A change in September is nothing more than a knee-jerk reaction. Something that too many fans are already having after a paltry three matches (all away). Not once did Slaven field a full strength team last season – not even when Carroll was fit – there was usually 5 or 6 out at any one time (and 9 this time last year and again in May). We started this season with a few out – Antonio, Kouyate, Lanzini, Carroll, etc…. and with some of these not having a pre-season, their gradual match fitness is improving in every game. The new outfield players – Arnautovic in particular, since his three match ban – will need more game time. Slaven Bilic deserves two months to work with everyone. We have Reid, Ayew and Carroll currently sidelined and we all know it’s a vastly improved squad on last season’s. Give them all a chance to integrate.

Blimey Radai you are sounding a bit down in the dumps today! Must be communicating with me- you are ageing in front of our eyes mate. Has the missus hidden that rope?

I think we have to look at who is available. There is Steve MacLaren. Nigel Pearson. Roy Hodgson. Oh Yeah, of course- there’s the guy who used to be at Bolton, Blackburn, Sunderland. Right I am just off to hide in my nuclear attack bunker. See ya!!

    • Radai Lama says:

Lol 64,yeah you are dragging me down mate😁
Got a day off & The Poison Dart Frog has me doing some painting so yeah in a bad mood πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
Are you going to get in the same nuclear bunker as Del Boy,Rodney & Grandad. The one they set up on top of Nelson Mandela House 😁

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

There are not any English managers good enough, as for Eddie Howe he is a great coach but the style of play Bournemouth have leaves them wide open at the back, it is one dimesional much like ours although even our one dimension has been poor so far. Sean Dyche has the right idea in terms of fitness, he is though just another Allardyce with a tendency towards survival (maybe our best bet this season – joke) . I think a coach like Tuchel is a better bet than a Mancini or Rafa, Tuchel is a coach also but with a very modern approach to the press and is young enough to have plenty to prove and to be open minded to find new ways to beat the stranglehold the big clubs have. Of those being touted he would certainly be my number 1 choice.

  • Hammer64 says:

Ha ha yeah I had forgotten that one Radai.Del Boy & Grandad would be ok as companions but Rodney? He had to be a West Ham fan….No I will be sharing Kevin’s. Access is only possible if you are a proven BS fan. After the holocaust the only people left will be the new race of Sammites who will wander the Earth muttering ‘ Value the point’ ‘I would be managing Barcelona if my name was Allerdice’ ‘ Beauty is AC leaping to nod in a corner’ ‘ West Ham way? Bah those fans are deluded’.
