Robert Snodgrass admits the Hammers are far from “the finished article” but believes they have the resources to do really well.
He believes the there are players in the team who can score goals and characters who will keep going when things are looking bleak.
Speaking after the game he declared the fans as being “superb again” and added: “Sometimes when you concede early on like we did, it’s easy to get your heads down but you need characters to keep going and the fans were superb again.
“It’s part and parcel of football, sometimes you get the chances and take that and you’re sitting there with three points but it wasn’t to be and we keep going.
“I personally keep on grafting every day and I’m in the best condition I’ve been in for a long time, and I had some injuries holding me back from doing that in the past.
“But to get myself in this condition and driving forward is great and I want to be pushing us up that table. We will dust ourselves down and get ready for a tough game against Man City.”

It’s hard not to find enough good words to say about Snodgrass. OK he’s never gonna be Lionel Messi but as workaholics go he’s right up there with the best. And he’s been around long enough now to make sound judgements about the personalities inside the club, honestly admitting we aren’t the finished article. His level of commitment since pre season when he lost pounds in training at a time where he wasn’t sure where he was going to be playing was brilliant. I also like his honesty and that he has bounced back with such style having had some pretty loathsome stuff directed at him from certain quarters last season. His work ethic is superb and his loyalty to the Irons was shown by his withdrawal from the Scotland squad . He maybe ‘Marmite’ but I like the stuff and I think he is one of the season’s unsung heroes.
Totally agree about Snodders but it’s the whole team bond that has changed for the better, against Burnley Antonio was warming up as a sub when we scored after Diangana (the man he was to replace) played a superb ball in the build up,Ant then joined in the celebrations with the players and sat back down joking with Pelle,I just can’t see him doing that last season.COYI
Snoddy cannot be faulted for effort or determination . He is worth his shirt and has earned our respect . He has plenty of skill and offers much more invention and running than Noble is capable of giving . Unfortunately he has a ban coming up so Noble will come back in again . Every time it looks as though we have got past it someone gets injured or banned and back he comes to slow down the play and increase the pressure on those around him to cover his mistakes and the gaps he leaves when losing the ball in possession. The problem with these games is that we don’t show enoug energy and fight we need the same if not more intensity as the other team. It was the same at Brighton when are we going to learn these games are not a given you have to fight. I think we can and will do better and just hope we have learnt now. COYI
Great example of work ethic. He’s actually also a very good technical player, but we’re so used to seeing our lot stroll around that when someone puts an obvious shift in, it sticks out like a sore thumb.
