West Ham have intensified their pursuit of Villarreal striker Alexander Sorloth according to braking reports. However, any deal is being held up due to the Spanish remaining firm on its £32 million asking price, which matches the buy-out clause in his contract.
That’s the latest claim from Mail Online in what must surely be seen as a backward step by West Ham. The Hammers have been linked with the likes of Jonathan David, Jhon Duran, and Karim Adeyemi within the last few days. These are young, fast players with potential who surely fit the profile of Julen Lopetegui’s project far more than Sorloth.
The 28-year-old Norway international, formerly with Crystal Palace, had an impressive season at Villarreal, netting 26 goals in 41 appearances last season. However, it should be noted that the towering Sorloth has had a less than prolific goalscoring record despite last season’s purple patch.
West Ham proposed a £25 million bid for Sorloth, but Villarreal are believed to be holding out for a higher offer. Additionally, Roma has also shown interest in the striker.
Nor worth 25.
Any of these players would need to come here on a loan deal as I don’t rate any of them highly.
All have talent but are very inconsistent, and let’s face it, what clubs of any note, apart from us, supposedly, have gone for any of them.
For anywhere near these inflated fees we need consistency, not fleeting moments of promise.
David has not shown he can do it at the top level even though he has the best scoring record. Every time I’ve seen him play he hasn’t impressed me. Perhaps with better, disciplined coaching he could be the one, but who knows.
Did someone order a Taxi to Roma! 🛺
The Striker we will get will be the cheapest option out there…it is a priority position that we need to fill yet we have been dragging our heels and the last two we have been linked with mainly this guy Sorloth and Kalvert Lewin have to be smokescreens as neither will amount to much IMO….firstly the guys had one good season in Spain the other is to injury prone but if we did end up with either one i think our brave new world will look very grey indeed
I really don’t want Calvert Lewis please please no
I really don’t want Calvert Lewis please please nobody
I agree with you, I don’t know why they didn’t get En Nesryi
Couldn’t do it on a cold Tuesday night in Stoke could he?
Hopefully smoke and mirrors to obscure our actual striker target.
