Massive triple boost for the Hammers today

West Ham have received a huge boost for the game against Manchester City today with the news that Pep Guardiolas’ squad has been stripped of three key players.

Man City’s John Stones will definitely be out of the Hammers game

Throughout the week there have been question marks over the squad the manager will bring to London today (Sat) and that may have been thought by some to be the usual smoke and mirrors approach we see ahead of games so often.

But this time the manager has confirmed that he will be without  John Stones and Jack Grealish with the injuries which kept them out of the Three Lions squad during the international break.

On top of that  new signing Mateo Kovacic has picked up a back problem which saw him miss out  on action with Croatia.

Kevin De Bruyne remains a longer-term absentee and it all means that the City boss is presented with some issues as he bids to make it 15 points from five games at the London Stadium.

The suggestion is that Jeremy Doku will start and that new arrival Matheus Nunes could also make his debut in Kovacic’s absence.

On Stones and Grealish Guardiola said at his pre-match presser yesterday: “Both are injured for tomorrow.  The injury for Jack is muscular but he has an incredible knock for his knee and the damage is there. John is better but still has issues.”
