Masuaku for Johnson update

David Moyes had a double reason for subbing Ben Johnson against Crystal Palace yesterday afternoon.

The collective groan could almost be heard when Arthur Masuaku appeared for the second half in his place.

But Moyes – still without a proper back-up to Aaron Cresswell  had no alternative when the player reported he was feeling some pain in the back of his leg above the ankle area.

And given – despite him enjoying a good first half an hour – he had received a yellow card the manager decided to risk him no further given the threat of suspension on top of our  injury issues.

However, we understand the youngster will be fit either for the weekend FA Cup clash against Leeds if required although insiders are hoping that Cress will be available.

CanH was told: “He reported twinges of pain and it was sensible to take him off in the circumstances but there is no scan requirement and he will be find for the next match.
