Matheus Pereira update

Suggestions that West Ham is close to signing Matheus Pereira have been denied by club insiders this afternoon saying the Brazilian playmaker is not the primary target for David Moyes in that position at this time.

Journolist Ekrem Konur claimed Twitter that the winger is now very close to joining West Ham United ahead of the new season. In his tweet, Konur said: “As of now, Matheus Pereira is very close to West Ham.” but that is said to be completely wide of the mark as it stands.

There was further speculation when the 25-year-old West Brom midfielder liked a post linking him to Saudi side Al Hilal which said ‘All the people of Al Hilal are waiting for you’

The latest information that is not the primary target tallies with what Claret and Hugh have been told a source close to the player.  Earlier this week we were told that West Ham was yet to make a formal bid despite making some enquiries.

While it appears Pereira could get be an option tales of his signing being close should be treated with a large pinch of salt.

  1. A great shame
He has proven premiership pedigree, scores goals, does not get injured and would be ideal Lingard replacement – and he is younger
Add in a LB and a forward and I’d say we have a squad that compete
Can’t understand why money is having to be directed to a CB when we already had Balbueno?

  2. So who is the target then? Because lingard has made it clear he doesnt want to come back

  3. If and when we decide probably be too late. Not still dancing to lingard tune I would hope.

  4. Ffs , he should be one of the top priority….more good news …just gets better and better

  5. I believe we will still sign him.

  6. Too much speculation about all these players but no real substance to any of the stories so far. Just hope we do sign some decent players and our main target, another striker.

  7. Need signings , get on with it !

  8. Well if Pereira is not the primary target at this time in that position, then who is? When the transfer window finally slams shut it will be interesting to see who has actually been signed in that role, because he certainly ticks all of the boxes, including price. If Moyes is still holding out for Lingard, I despair.

  9. Can we just sign some players ffs, this same old boring **** show every window about who we want how close we are and how we are nailed on favourites to land them, time to cut the crap we ain’t buying what you’re selling if it’d the same as every other window we’ll get F all except hasbeens on loan or kids for the academy

  10. Typical wasting time bidding on players like Lingard that would rather be elsewhere, memories of Bacca, El Nesri and Jimenez. Even if we are going for Lingard we need cover and should be looking at players like Perreira.

  11. Worst written article I have ever read. Seriously must be written by a 10 year old kid

  12. The rumour mill is spinning out of control regarding who will or won’t be joining the club. So far we’ve got cover for Fab, a couple of kids and sod all else. I remember reading just after the season ended we wanted to do our business fast. What happened to that?
With two weeks to go before the new season we’ll either get cast-offs, has beens or both.
I’m getting dizzy reading about all the players we’re supposed to be linked with. Some excite me; some depress. In the latter category is Martin Braithwaite, the unwanted thirty something Barcelona striker looking possibly for a final big payday.
I had bought into the ‘young and hungry’ vision put forward by Mr Moyes. I hope that vision comes to fruition – otherwise we could no worse by asking Sir Geoff Hurst to pull on his shooting boots in a fortnight……..got to be better than Braithwaite.

  13. Personally think Benrahma is going to take advantage of the situation and make the position his own. Good run of games coming up for him I reckon.
