Konstantinos Mavropanos is reportedly on his way to the Hammers having apparently reached an agreement with Stuttgart,
The Irons stepped up their interest in the 25-year-old after a proposed move for Manchester United’s Harry Maguire fell through earlier this week.
We put the Maguire saga quickly behind us as Sky Sports News claims that the Irons have now agreed a fee of around £19m plus add-ons with Stuttgart to sign Mavropanos.
The 19 times capped Greece international has spent the last three years at Stuttgart, including the first two years on loan from Arsenal before joining permanently last summer.
Mavropanos had a tough time trying to establish himself as a first-team regular during his only previous spell in England with Arsenal, featuring just eight times including three Premier League starts between 2018 and 2020.
However, the Athens-born defender has been a mainstay in the Stuttgart backline in the last three seasons, making 89 appearances across all competitions including 26 Bundesliga starts in 2022-23.
The 6 foot 4 centre back is set to provide competition for for Kurt Zouma, Nayef Aguerd, Thilo Kehrer and Angelo Ogbonna, with the Irons about to juggle domestic duties with yet another European adventure.
