Mavropanos can put things right

With Kurt Zouma uncertain, there is every chance Konstantinos Mavropanos can put things right after his own goal against Brentford in last weekend’s Premier League defeat. The central defender was in reasonable form against  Olympiacos on Thursday and beyond the own goal was again in okay form as we took control of Group A with a couple of games left.

It’s as well top remember that the victory came after a highly impressive performance against Arsenal who we defeated 3-1 at the London Stadium to progress into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup. Nottingham Forest on Sunday will be very tough although it should be remembered the opposition have only won one game away from home this season at Chelsea so we can take some encouragement from that. Mavropanos  – as should be expected – is very confident  West Ham can get back to winning ways against the east midlanders though.

Talking to he said: “We have had a couple of games in the Premier League that we haven’t performed in the way we would want to. We’ve conceded a few silly goals but we’re working very hard and I think the wins will come for us, particularly after we’ve shown what we can do in this game against Olympiacos.

“Every competition is important and you want to play well in every game. That’s what we’re trying to do here. I think we will bounce back in the league as well.”

Mavropanos is relishing his time at the Club and hopes to continue to build on his recent showings saying: I’m enjoying my time at West Ham a lot. I am very happy and everyone here is incredible. I want to show why I feel like I will be here for a long time.”
