Further Exit Possible in Defensive Overhaul

West Ham United are reportedly considering the sale of defender Konstantinos Mavropanos just one year after his arrival from VfB Stuttgart: Tim Steidten was instrumental in bringing him to London Stadium under then manager David Moyes.

Mavropanos had a half-decent campaign at West Ham last season, however, it seems like Julen Lopetegui hasn’t really been a fan of the Greek International since arriving in East London. West Ham fans thought Lopetegui would love the defender after reportedly trying to sign him in the past, but it appears not to be the case.

So the Greek international’s playing time could be limited following the impressive signings of Max Kilman and Jean-Clair Todibo, leading to speculation about his future at the London Stadium.

With the club looking to recoup funds to finance further transfer activity, Mavropanos could become a potential departure. Interest from unnamed clubs could accelerate his exit, particularly if West Ham receive suitable offers.

The decision to potentially sell Mavropanos highlights the competitive nature of the Premier League and the constant evolution of squads. As West Ham look to build a squad capable of challenging for European places, difficult decisions must be made.

We don’t just want two centre backs. We need 4 powerful centre backs challenging each other. Obviously if Dinos goes then we need another CB.

    • Jeeps says:

Absolutely but where are they going to find suitable replacements?
Should have signed r/bks and l/bks who could cover centre back position.
Versatility has always been a trait of whu

Any defender who puts his hands together behind his back when trying to stop a cross going in doesn’t fill me with much hope

Looking to sign a player in the past means little, even if it is true. If a player has not developed, if while at the club key weaknesses have been identified, if his data/fitness is slumping managers will look to move players on. Probably would get a reasonable fee, might even show a small profit on the book value, find another player who cost wise (amortization and wages) looks about the same and rinse and repeat. Welcome to the Project.

Totally agree with Dudley. Many fans are actually oblivious regarding players stats. Data is very important identifying players. If Dudley is the old West Ham winger who replaced Harry Redknapp. I hope you are well and thank you for the good times you and the team gave us

Mavropanos hasn’t looked comfortable enough on the ball since we signed him, great character though if another club is interested could be a good deal for all concerned

Wasn’t it Aguerd he tried to sign for Sevilla in 2022?
Apart from that, what Dudley said.
