Mavropanos proving a big liability
Konstantinos Mavropanos is proving a big liability to this West Ham squad. And I am not judging the Greece international solely on his awful back pass which led to last night’s goal and defeat at Ashton Gate. To be fair, her probably improved a bit afterwards and has the ability to offer threats in the opposition defence as he showed when scoring against Arsenal.
Mavropanos proving a big liability
The reality is though that like Nayef Aguerd he always has an error in him as he has shown now on three occasions in a West Ham shirt following last night’s awful and eventually fatal blow.
The first came against Brentford when he managed to score a classic own goal and back in December lost us two points against Crystal Palace. He was responsible – as we were leading 1-0 – for another poor pass which led to their goal and lost us those points.
What with his errors and the inconsistency and alleged non commitment of Aguerd to the Hammers cause, plus Oggy’s age and Zouma’s dodgy knees it is clear we need at least one and possibly two central defenders.
In fairness to David Moyes Claret and Hugh has been told that Mavropanos was not one of his picks and if that’s the case he may well have been right to oppose his arrival.
