Just a few weeks now to see how far West Ham back their data guru and Chief Analyst Max Hahn’s latest transfer window hunch. It is easy to chuck thirty or forty million on an up and coming nailed-on Premier League certainty: Quite another thing to identify a budget player with a big future.
Somehow Tim Steidten missed the memo when he gambled in excess of £20 million on young talent Luis Guilherme: The idea when ‘pearl diving’ is to find inexpensive talent and develop into a world class footballer at a fraction of the cost. The Brazilian teenager still has to deliver whist Steidten has paid the price for several ill-judged acquisitions.
Max Hahn, however, is in the ascendency at West Ham and is credited, rightly or wrongly, with identifying key summer recruits and has been busy picking out a striker for West Ham’s January window. According to a couple of reports, (hammers.news) his cross hairs have settled on Swansea City’s striker Zan Vipotnik: Right on cue the Slovenian scored this afternoon in Swansea’s 2-1 loss against Stoke City .

Swansea City’s Zan Vipotnik
Whether Hahn’s hunch will be backed next month by a Hammers side short on cash is tricky to guess: The 23 year old Vipotnik is not the fastest, nor the best in the air – but at under 5 million quid he’s a bit of a no-brainer as there’s not much of a down side to adding him to West Ham’s goal depleted squad.
Just as long as he’s not the Hammers ONLY signing in January…
LOL That’s a little sarky D, Don’t you think mate. ? not every good striker needs 2 have pace and physicality 2 be good. take Jimmy Greaves, Gay Linaker 4 instance both on the slow-side but both very good finishers in the box. plus under 5 mill isn’t gonna break bank as they say is he. LOL C O Y I’s
Cheers Paul.
Look unless his career is littered with Injuries i do not see us making a bid
Lacks pace and physicality so yes should be perfect for us.
