Mayor frustrated at subsidising London Stadium

|

stadiumMayor of London, Sadiq Khan has vented his “unhappiness, frustration and anger” at the growing costs of the London Stadium, which he warned would have to be “subsidised for the foreseeable future.

Khan has been quoted in the London Evening Standard as saying “My unhappiness, frustration and anger is that the cost associated with the original conversion is more than we were promised. And… the annual cost of turning that into a culture and music venue is more than predicted — to the extent that it looks as if for the foreseeable future we will be subsidising this stadium.

Had we known the cost would be as much for conversion as it has been, would that have happened? We’ve appointed a firm to find out what happened. If it’s going to cost us X million pounds to move it from a football stadium to a cultural one and back again to football, it begs the question: are we getting value for money?”

Don’t you worry about a thing Mayor Khan, Mr Sullivan and Mr Gold will take it off your hands, they’re sending the Baroness over now to negotiate the deal. Shall we start at you hand over the deeds and you write a cheque to the Hammers for £20M. You to pay all legal costs and Mrs Brady’s taxi fares and other out of pocket expenses including her bonus for doing the deal.

You know it makes sense Mayor and then we can then all get on with our life. Oh and let’s all forget about the Olympic legacy nonesense after the summer shall we?

You can always blame Boris and Seb those pesky Tories.

might cost more than 20 million to sort the seating out though…..tell you what shake hands at 50 million and we’ll say no more

You can see why Mr Kahn has got the hump – the Olympic Stadium is bottomlesss pit and will be for the foreseeable future – the way it’s been set up, having to be converted from Football mode to Athletics mode and vice versa is balmy (not to mention unbelievably expensive) – the whole thing is a complete fudge.

Unfortunately, Mr Kahn has inherited the situation from his predecessors and is lumbered with it and the taxpayer will have to stump up!

I propose the building of a purpose built Athletics Stadium somewhere else in the Olympic Park wasteland – there’s plenty of room – and the present London Stadium being made a proper Football Stadium.
