David Moyes again left the pre-match presser for the FA Cup replay tomorrow evening to Billy McKinlay who confirmed that both Lucas Paquetá and Jarrod Bowen would miss the game.
McKinlay gives confirmation
He had little to say other than what one would expect about the squad facing a tough game and that we are confident we can produce a performance that will hopefully get us through to the next round.
Probably his more interesting comments came when he was asked about new arrivals in January which brought a fairly uncommitted response .
He declared: “I’m probably the wrong person to be asking that question, but January is always a difficult month in which to to business and we’ll continue to work with the players we have got.”
We know however from our own insiders – as reported that David Sullivan, Tim Steidten and David Moyes are working frantically to find new faces.
But in the absence of any for tomorrow McKinlay made it clear that the players available will really have to take their chances.
He added: “It’s just that the players ahead of them have been producing. That’s what happens. It’s a big opportunity for them for the next couple of games, certainly Tuesday, and we’re confident we’ll see what they’re capable of producing.”
For most of us however, it remains a question of fingers crossed having seen the recent form of some of those fringe players.
