Whilst West Ham were crashing to defeat at Tottenham’s North London ground yesterday in an embarrassing second half capitulation that saw three goals and one red card for Mohammed Kudus, there was better news for one West Ham player visiting the capital in a first victory for the season.
On-loan up and coming midfielder Freddie Potts travelled to Loftus Road with Portsmouth and notched up a maiden victory in their championship campaign. Queens Park Rangers were the hosts to Pompey who ran out 2-1 winners for their first win of the season. And loanee Potts bagged his first goal of the season since his summer switch on-loan after he converted Lang’s cross to level the game on the 18th minute.
Potts said afterwards of the goal, and of the supporters – over 1700 travelled up to watch the game:

First Championship goal for Freddie Potts
“I think it was just my position. I’ve always liked to improve on that side of my game, I try to get in and around the box more often and thankfully the ball landed to me and put a firm side foot on it and it was such a good moment.
‘Unbelievable. I loved it. My family were in the crowd, I could see them amongst all the Pompey fans who were unbelievable today and really supported us well. It’s such a great feeling and I’m happy to get off the mark.’
Come back soon Freddie, I think we’re going to need you..
Freddie is a good boy. Marshall also scored for Huddersfield yesterday.
