Medical Delayed | Alarm Bells Ringing

Wouldn’t you know it? Just after I wrote a piece this morning saying how surprised I was that the Aaron Wan-Bissaka deal had been agreed with both the club and the player and ‘all that remained was his medical, which was booked for 4pm today’.

It was Manchester United after all, and we’d ‘always seemed to run into problems with negotiations with the Red Devils’, I said, thinking the deal was done as everyone reported this morning.

I just hope those words don’t come back to haunt me because Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth has posted an update on his twitter page that confirms that ‘Red Tape’ has caused a delay:

“UPDATE: Aaron Wan-Bissaka still finalising his exit terms from Manchester United. Medical due for 4pm has been now delayed. He is still expected to travel to London this evening as those terms are finalised. West Ham remain hopeful a deal will still be struck”.

Less than five hours after his Sky Sports Germany Colleague  @plettigoal had even confirmed the contact length, price, terms.. we hear now that a last minute hitch has prevented the deal progressing.

Which is not great news as a Hammer. I just remember how we were ‘mucked’ around ( being polite) By Man U over the Harry Maguire negotiations – which turned out to be a blessing in disguise.

No further details are available at present, so let us hope that this is simply last minute contract negotiations with Man U, terms of the contract or perhaps a value for the players release clause. No point in speculating. Will await news to pass on as soon as I can find it. The crumb of comfort is that Bissaka’s successor at Manchester United, Noussair Mazroaui, has his own medical booked at Old Trafford on Monday.

Like everyone else, lifelong WHU fan and season ticket holder in old BMU stand at Upton Park from 2003. Billy Bonds these days with my adult son and impatiently waiting for my Grandson to be old enough to initiate him before his mum grabs him for Man U. All opinions are my own very biased ones.

Other information an hour ago for what it’s worth stating medical completed.

  • Rick says:

    ******** ! Rick mufc

  • Chris says:

Turn tables on them make them wait wait wait and bam in walks KWP medical done here you go Manure you clearly don’t want to lost AWB so have him back

  • Ray says:

Anybody else getting tired of Wan-Bissaka/MUFC bulls**t. I think it is time to focus on other options and if one of those is completed before AWB signs, so be it.

    • D.f.butcher says:

I think it’s time we told man u to take a hike?

    • Tony Rosier says:

I hope you do he’s the best defensive right back in the world why United would let him go I don’t understand especially just to replace him with a bang average player !

  • GKC says:

Is it just me or does anyone else get the feeling Wan-Bisaka could be a disruptive influence in the squad? Good player but seems to be more about money than playing football for us.

    • Linda says:

I’m not a westham fan but as a general fan if football,be careful what 6iu wish for coming from Manure…hes been at Man ure 9 years so even if he transfers, his heart will always be a red devil…Manure players are always same…that bitterness is instilled in them.Maybe that if it doesn’t get finished that its a blessing in disguise for westham…

      • Coling says:

        Fair comment Linda, and true

        • Kneesdownmotherbrown says:

Ain’t true is it…. Nothing about the comment is true. He’s only 26! He ain’t been at Man Utd for 9 years for a start! I stopped reading after that “fact”

          • John Walker says:

Great tackler but nothing else. As Roy Keane stated … he lacks intelligence. Should fit in well at WHU.

      • So. says:

So he was bought by Man U for 50 million aged 15 ? Impressive

      • Ess_Bee says:

To quote Roy Keane, “This is Manchester United we’re talking about” as if they have a divine right to win everything. So I am assume this arrogance runs through the whole club and the current players believe they are above the likes of the Hammers.

      • Whu says:

Obviously no nothing about football..nine years ago he wasn’t in palace team.

      • Vince says:

Hes been at man u for 5 years not 9

      • Trevor says:

He only been at Man utd since 2019

      • Matty says:

There’s no loyalty in the Prem anymore matey. United r having to pay him £5.6m to bribe him to leave. I think he’ll do a v decent job for the Hammers

      • James R says:

Linda the only bitterness on display is yours, what a load of nonsense you are spouting next time just save yourself the effort and just say Fergie ruined my childhood 🤣

    • elduder says:

wan-bissaka isn’t a controversial figure at manchester united

according to fans he’s a quiet fella who lets his football do the talking, nothing both professional

don’t think wan bissaka is part of the bad egg brigade at the club – which is ironic, you’d think they’d get rid off the toxicity first

    • D23 baller says:

This is the most ridiculous thing I have read. You clearly have been reading about another player and you have confused the two. You are correct it’s just your feelings, no facts.

    • Philip Acton says:

**** off. Great team man. Awesome player.

  • Charlie Farley says:

Medicals (and deals for other reasons) get delayed all the time. If this wasn’t a Man United player coming to West Ham, we’d never hear about it. There’s no mileage in a similar story between say, Bristol City and Coventry is there?

Please write a piece when the transfer is complete…..or when it’s been definitely called off.
Instead of making something out of nothing or mountains out of molehills (again!).

  • hippocampusmathclub says:

Manchester United seem like such a strangely run club from the outer. They deem a player surplus to requirements, but aren’t making that much of an effort to unload them to a club that’s keen. Delays would be somewhat understandable if they were playing us straight up, but we have Villa who is a direct threat to their potential top six league position.

I’d like to hope these delays aren’t from AWB’s camp. I get wanting to get what he’s owed if moving comes with a significant pay cut, similar to Ings, but there needs to be a compromise at some point, or at least one would assume. The links between Salthouse and David Sullivan almost make me certain this is a Manchester United issue, not AWB.

  • Theydon Bois Dave says:

Just call the deal off. We are being messed about on this if we call deal off that will @@@@ up Man deals

  • Morkus says:

Like I’ve said before never deal with man u or their players again
Always hassle, AWB, lingard, maguire mctominay

  • West Ham Fan No 32 says:

Should ditch this, we can get AWB for free next season, go all in for Ferdi Kadioglu he can play left and right back and save ourselves £15m while teaching Utd that they are idiots, they need to sell him before getting Nasroui so we can put them over a barrel and screw them.

  • Pongo says:

It will go through because utd need to offload him so they can sign mazroui. Maybe utd are just blocking it until they sort mazroui situation, Romano has said his here we go so just wait and see i doubt it’s anything to do with awb as he knows he is not wanted at manure.

    • John Harrison says:

I thought exactly the same. This is about Mazroui.

    • elduder says:

i just hope we can get the medial done before man utd have a chance to do mazrouis medical

that guy has a fitness record like shaws

he’s a quality player but there some serious zouma vibes, fee is too cheap for his quality and his fitness record paints a very grim picture

  • michael cash says:

Sign or do one. I don’t mind either.
ManUre are the most verminous dogs to attempt to do business with

  • Bacon sarnie says:

From what I’ve been told, AWB won’t sign until he gets his severance pay and manure won’t pay till he signs. Someone has got to give in or it’s a dead deal

  • michael cash says:

Before agreeing a medical, all this should have been sorted.
Why is it only with this scum that problems always occur?

  • Paul lewis says:

Should never deal with manure, every transfer of a player coming out of that club is a nightmare.
Tell them to get lost and go elsewhere, he is not the only decent right back around

  • BiggerJex says:

The medical was literally completed today lmao, why are ym bulls@@@@ and slating united lol

  • Hornchurch Hammer says:

Think Obi Wan Bissaka would use Jedi mind tricks to get the deal done.

  • elduder says:

ok, i have a bad feeling about this

AWB injured his hamstring after coming on in the 85th minute against brighton last year

when he returned to training months later man utds said the injury was quite bad so he would not be rushed back

3 months latter he breaks down again with an “unknown injury” according to transfermarkt – ten hag says he has a “problem with his leg”

it’s almost like his hammy is hanging on by a thread, potentially needing surgery to properly correct it – that would be a disaster

  • My left foot says:

Should drop this deal like a sack of s*** abd go for Martinez from Girona

  • De says:

The thing is: man u need him gone for the Mazrouie(spelling) deal to go through, OK it’s not dependant but I’m sure both parties would want both deals to conclude smoothly

  • Ian says:

Some huge overreactions here. Exactly what the original ‘story’ aimed for.
