Sky Sports News is reporting that Nice central defender Jean-Clair Todibo has successfully completed the first part of his West Ham medical.

The twice-capped French canter-back arrived in London late this morning on a private jet following late-night negotiations with Hammers director of football Tim Steidten. Personal terms on his contract are reportedly already agreed, and a £35 million transfer with the Ligue 1 club is ready for completion either later today or tomorrow.

Fellow suitors Juventus have all but admitted defeat in their chase for the defender and are unable to match West Ham’s financial package for the player.

Nice instructed the Serie A side two days ago that they would only accept a permanent transfer offer for Todibo which exceeded the valuation of the Hammers highest offer.

The Hammers hope to announce the signing over the next 48 hours, and Todibo is expected to attend tomorrow’s pre-season friendly against Celta Vigo at the London Stadium.

Once an agreement is in place it is amazing, particularly for us how quick we can complete.

I understood it was a year loan with an obligation to buy for £35m?

As long as we have him I don’t care about the details he is a top class Central defender and I fully expect him to hit the ground running and prove it. Get the right back signing done either awb or kwp or whoever tim has lined up, and get rid of zouma, aguerd, ings that will greatly reduce the wage bill and give us enough money to get another central defenDer in as cover even though we have mavropanous and if we can get wahl in at a reasonable price as cover behind fulkrieg we will be laughing Antonio has been a great servant but it’likely you will only get 15 games a season out of him nowadays so a good option from the bench when our opponents are tiring in the last 20 mins of the game ring him on to bustle the up and this will cut down on his injury and fitness problems, just being honest here as these days he does more podcast than football matches.

I was hoping for solet, from rb salzburg, what a player he is, better than rice, for under 10 mill, we may have missed a golden chance there.

“The twice-capped French canter-back”, I hope he doesn’t just canter back whilst playing or else we be conceding lots of goals!
Stupid jokes apart, this pair could be really good for us.

I wonder what team we will put out against Villa. I assume the new boys will have been guaranteed at certain amount of starting/playing time ? also hope the youth still get included as couple of them are near to first team involvement. Would hate to lose them.

We are not going to have a team this season we are going to have a squad where it will be used and players rested here and there not flog to death the same eleven players week in week out…this is going to be a very different era and players are going to have to keep on there toes to be considered for selection and that is a good thing
