Borussia Dortmund along with Sky German reporter Patrick Berger on his X account have confirmed that West Ham United’s target Niclas Fullkrug has left their training camp this morning to head to London for a medical today.
If you are in the ‘denial’ camp still thinking that the German’s prospective recruitment is a negotiating ruse aimed at weakening Aston Villa’s resolve in order to drive a deal for Jhon Duran over the line, then it is getting pretty late in the day for the Hammers to drop interest in Fullkrug.
Once he is genuinely ‘arrived’ then I think we can safely say this is not a ruse!
And actually I am becoming more positive about the player adding a level of expertise and competition to The Irons’ squad. Having either ‘ The Fulk’ or ‘The Beast’ AKA Mikey Antonio starting and maybe changing at 60 minutes would make the emerging trio behind them of Summerville, Kudus and Bowen infinitely more effective and a very exciting ‘watch’.
I’d guess this will herald the departure of Danny Ings probably on a deadline day loan out somewhere – depending on the homegrown quota situation once the ‘players out’ situation becomes clearer nearer the end of August.
Hopefully this deal will be announced after the unveiling of Crysencio Summerville who passed his medical part 2 yesterday and has already had the ‘PR unveiling’ shots taken. This weekend could rapidly turn into one of those which lives long in the memory with the possibility of no less than three new recruits being unveiled in one 48 hour period.
3 recruits? Summerville, Fullkrug and Rodriguez?
Very exciting days ahead. A better looking squad than last season when we finished 9th and hopefully a better brand of football.
If West Ham’s medical includes a dentist could he be in trouble? Mind you having a striker who looks like he doesn’t mind being battered a bit would be very pleasant. The PR team when it comes to the ‘Welcome’ video may think differently
🤣
Lots of good solid players coming in but let’s not get carried away these players will take time to settle in with their new team mates plus all players will be using a totally new system. We must all be patient with the new set up and wish the players and management team all our best wishes for a solid season.
being a british club im pretty sure dental requirements are prohibited by law
A very sensible post Martin. All the players joining are an improvement on what we had last season and our first XI will be much stronger.
The quality off the bench is something we have not had before, especially as Moyes mistakenly opted for a small squad. We need to try to move on Maxwell Cornet and Zouma as I cannot see them ever getting a game.
By bringing in experienced players at their peak, it creates a window for our great bunch of academy players to go out on loan for experience against grown men. If they are good enough maybe they can come back and compete with the ‘oldies’.
If we get AWB into the club, and a quality CB, then it will have been a smart and efficient rebuild. I expected it to take a couple of windows to achieve what we have achieved this summer so far.
Ideally, I would have liked to sign Duran. His profile, attributes and potential sell on value would have been perfect for us. But Fullkrig is a quality striker and I’m certain he will give us a fruitful few seasons. And, if he’s still available, there’s always the possibility of pursuing Duran next summer. With another year of Premier League experience he will only have improved.
martin, he’s german, not russian
(:
