Forget the result, the team selection, style, substitutions: Something fundamentally different happened today to separate West Ham United’s and Fulham’s matchday experiences and the relationship the clubs have with their fans.
I just want to highlight it during the same week West Ham launched their fan forum to ‘try and involve supporters more in the running of the club’ or whatever lip service it may turn out to be ( I hope I am wrong- if so i will admit it publicly and hang my head in shame).
But one, simple act by the Fulham owners speaks more than a thousand words or rhetoric, PR Releases or promises of ‘putting fans first’: Indeed, actions speak louder than words. Maybe the West Ham Board could learn something about how to engage their fans and create better working relationships with the sixty-something thousand who turn up to pay something over six pounds for a beer and eight pounds for a hotdog.
Just as a thought, Mr Sullivan, I’ll leave this tweet / X account post from Fulham Football Club here:
Of course, catering at West Ham’s ground isn’t run by the club. How easy is it to subsidise it for an ‘early hour’ or two in these days of digitized stock control and accounting.
How much more ‘engaged’ would fans feel with beer at a £1 a pint???
Hats off to Fulham for showing the best way to treat their loyal fans.
About time we all got behind our club like the Liverpool supporters do ok so their are problems with all clubs so sort them out without damaging your club it’s a business you know do you shout your mouth off at work with what’s wrong support your club through thick and thin
Get the point, but obvious fact is if mugs will pay it, they’ll charge it.
Stop bowing to their ridiculous pricing, they can’t charge it.
£8 for mechanically reclaimed chicken in bread, no thanks.
Well said Whippet. My go to saying in an instant like that when I’m with my family is, “don’t encourage the bxxxxxxds.
Also, mechanically reclaimed chicken as a freebie? I’m walking past with a polite no. 🤮
