Paul Merson has backed the Hammers to beat Wolves this weekend when the Premier League returns.
The league was paused for the international break, with Europe’s qualifying round for the 2022 World Cup coming to an end.
The Irons will be back in action this weekend, though, and a win over Wolves could mean that they move level on points with Chelsea at the top of the league, provided the Blues drop points against Leicester.
David Moyes’ side have, indeed, been in excellent form in recent weeks, beating Liverpool, Aston Villa and Spurs in the Premier League, knocking Manchester City out of the Carabao Cup, and drawing with Genk in the Europa League.
Wolves, by comparison, headed into the international break on the back of a defeat to Crystal Palace, though they did beat Everton, Aston Villa, Newcastle, and Southampton, while also recording a draw against Leeds.
Speaking to SportsKeeda and giving his predictions for the weekend, Merson said: “West Ham United have been outstanding this season in the Premier League and are coming on the back of a deserved victory against Liverpool. They are starting to believe they can secure a top-four finish and it just goes to show how far they’ve come under David Moyes.
“Considering how well West Ham have done so far, these are the games you have to win to secure a UEFA Champions League spot, with all due respect to Wolves. I expect them to get three points once again and keep their good run of form going.”
