Midfielder back on West Ham’s watch list | Loan could be cut short

What a difference year makes: Twelve months ago, one of the hottest young England up and coming talents was growing in stature at the soon – to be crowned Premier League champions – just a year later and he is struggling to even get selected at Aston Villa and, all in all, is enduring a pretty torrid loan spell which should have re-launched his career.

Harvey Elliott, another of the ‘epic fails’ of West Ham’s summer transfer campaigns, is back on the West Ham radar according to the Sunday Mirror (via westhamworld.co.uk).

Elliott left on loan from Liverpool, hoping to relaunch his career at Unai Emery’s Aston Villa but cannot get a break: According to the report:

“West Ham are keeping a close eye on the future of Harvey Elliott amid growing uncertainty over his situation at Aston Villa.”

“The Hammers were linked with the midfielder in the summer, but he ultimately joined Villa on loan — a deal that includes an obligation to buy from Liverpool for £35 million if specific conditions are met. However, the long-term plan has now been thrown into doubt. Fresh reports claim that West Ham still view Elliott as a potential signing, with the club tracking developments closely”

It is believed the ‘obligation’ kicks in should he make a set number of first-team starts but at present, he’s falling well short and there is even speculation that Elliott could return to Anfield in January.

Just ready for the Hammers to splash some of the cash from a Lucas Paquetá sale?

Stranger things have happened.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

First of all, I am curious as to exactly how much you guys think we might get from the sale of Paqueta, and secondly, why on earth would we then waste it on a player that would not make our top three requirements hit list. I am assuming we still don’t have money to waste?
Paqueta is damaged goods, and I doubt any club would now pay more than half what West Ham did, and certainly not enough to match even Elliot’s price.

Too many players thinking they are too good, this team needs a total shakeup, Bowen, Paqueta, kilman, and others excess to requirement , give the places to younger players who want to play and maybe bring in a forward thinking manager who isn’t too scared to let his players of the leash, in short give us some some football worth watching, because right now how we play is pointless and at the rate we are going we will be down by February, if we are to go, go down trying. You don’t win games with negativity…if that’s what football has become, I think I’ve had enough, life is too short…

Bowen ?? We need more with his attitude and commitment. My greatest fear is he will leave if and when we go down. There’s plenty of clubs would like him .

  • Richard says:

I hope this is a bluff. Number one, we need a centre forward, number two we need a centre back…. number ninety-nine we need Harvey Elliott

Harvey Elliott would be a good signing we know what he is capable of ok he hasn’t done very well at villa but he just doesn’t fit their way of playing and with the lack of playing time it’s going to take its toll a fresh start with us may well be what he and our great club need the prospect of Elliot back to his best would be fantastic for us we need to get him signed up should the opportunity comes our way

      • Ray says:

That would use up what little money we have (allegedly) and leave nothing for a defender and central striker who we are desperate for, result – relegation.

  • Jimmy G says:

He can’t play for another club this season because he’s already played for 2 clubs (Liverpool and Villa), so why would West Ham sign him in January? Edit

    • Gonzo says:

Try and read the article before insulting people Jimmy. In fact, how about not insulting anyone at all. There is far too much of that on the internet and it’s not encouraged on here.

“is back on the West Ham radar according to the Sunday Mirror (via westhamworld.co.uk)”.

In essence it’s the Sunday Mirrors story, hence the reason it’s a 3rd party report.

I’ve deleted your insult but please try not to be so rude to the writers in future or just read another website.
