Mighty Hammers Hammers battled back to beat Spurs
Whatever they had in their half time cups of tea I want some as they were entirely unrecognisable from the opening 45 mins. Romero 11th minute goal was equalised in the 51st minute when Bowen played the ball into Mohammed Kudus and, after some unintentional pinball in the box, the England international fired home unchallenged! It was Jarrod’s ninth goal of the season, the 50th of his Hammers career and his first against Spurs,
We went ahead when after Bowen forced a scrambled save from the Spurs keeper JWP hit the post before tapping home the rebound. It was the best 45 minutes we have seen from the team this season after a totally shocking first half when were dominated from the start by a slick moving Spuds side who enjoyed 90 per cent of possession in the opening 10 minutes.
After such one way traffic it was a terrible shock that the opening goal came from dreadful lazy defending when ever Hammers player was in the box but couldn’t prevent Romero rising for a corner and heading across Fabianski into the far corner,
The Hammers responded with their first attack of the match but Kudus was offside when firing wide from a Coufal cross. It was Kudus – playing centrally – who was again on the case when drawing a save a few minutes later.
These were brief moments in constant Spuds attacking and Fabianski – in for Areola who has an injured wrist – who save well from Lo Celso.
But the Hammers created a fabulous chance when Kudus AGAIN – this time having moved to the right – crossed beautifully for Paqueta who headed wide from close in when he should have at least put the ball on target.
Then came that amazing second period when every Hammer was a hero.
