Arsenal lose to West Ham in Premier League title decider
Mikel Arteta was absolutely furious following Arsenal’s loss to West Ham at the Emirates Stadium yesterday.
The under-fire Gunners boss has faced mounting criticism over his failure to bring trophies to North London, and things have just got worse for him.
Whilst West Ham fans were enjoying a relaxed Sunday following our well-deserved 1-0 win, Arteta would have been watching the Premier League clash between Manchester City and Liverpool very closely.
It’s incredible how quickly things can swing in the crazy world of football because, had Arsenal beaten the Hammers yesterday, they would have been just five points behind the leaders.
However, following Liverpool’s 2-0 win this afternoon, Arteta’s Gooners find themselves a whopping 11 points behind Arne Slot’s EPL front-runners.
Arteta, Declan Rice, and the entire Arsenal squad will be cursing their luck following a weekend when they let the title slip from their grasp. I seem to remember Kevin Keegan’s Newcastle team surrendering a twelve-point advantage once, and his “I would just love it” rant has gone down in football folklore.
But Arsenal look nowhere near good enough to chase down Liverpool, so it seems like another season without clinching the Premier League. No doubt the Gunners will be licking their wounds, but the truth of the matter is that despite twenty shots on target against Alphonse Areola’s West Ham goal, they never looked close to scoring
Who cares about Lego hair them and Chelski are the most despised clubs in the capital as for Spuds well they are just a joke.
Maybe just postmatch hyperbole, but I’ve seen more than a few sources claim that the reason Dec was subbed was related to applauding the away fans when he walked over to take a corner.
I like Arteta less as an individual the more I see of him, but surely even he’s not that petulant and petty?
Anyway Gooners bottled it yet again.
Happy Monday!
Arsenal losing to westham is criminal and unacceptable for title challenger.
In that case let’s hope they are taken to court or at least made to pay a hefty fine! 🤣
I found the commentator on MotD pretty odd.
Pre-kickoff he started with “In November, Arsenal were 10 points behind Liverpool. Now…” and going on to make it sound like they’d closed the gap massively when the truth is had Nunez not missed an absolute sitter at the end of the Villa game midweek, the gap would’ve been 10 points still going into the match.
20 attempts, only 2 on target.
