Mikey and Jamaica’s disappointment

Jamaica were beaten by Mexico in a dramatic result on Friday.

The Reggae Boyz fielded Mikey Antonio as their striker against the north American giants.

But the Irons star was on the end of a hugely disappointing result, as they were beaten 2-1 in a result that has all but ended their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

Damion Lowe was sent off just before half time but Jamaica went 1-0 up five minutes after half time, as Daniel Johnson scored.

Mexico, though, broke Jamaica hearts with two late goals, scoring in the 81st and the 83rd minutes through Henry Martin and Alexis Vega respectively.

The result leaves Jamaica sixth in the CONCACAF table and seven points behind fourth-placed Panama, who are currently set for an inter-federation play-off.

As it stands, Canada, the Untied States and Mexico are set to qualify for the World Cup automatically. Only El Salvador and Honduras have taken fewer points than Jamaica.
