Mikey makes his choice

|

Michail Antonio has finally made his chosen to switch of internationally and has reportedly opted for Jamaica over England.

Some believed he may have held an outside chance of representing the Three Lions after it became known he was considering the Jamaica option.

But according to Sky Sports he has now made up his mind and instead will represent the Caribbean island where his parents were born.

Jamaica are due to play a friendly against the USA in Austria on March 25th.

Antonio has been a part of the England squad under Sam Allardyce but didn’t leave the bench as Sam Allardyce’s brief spell in charge came to a quick conclusion.

The 30-year-old Hammers No 30 was first approached last month and has been taking his time over a Jamaica or England decision but according to Sky his mind is now made up.

Most Hammers fans whilst wanting him to achieve all he can in his career will be concerned that – given his injury issues – he doesn’t appear to frequently on teh international stage.

Unfortunately not even close to being an England International, plenty “youngsters” available and his close control not always up to scratch and not clinical enough in front of goal…
Honest endeavour doesn’t mean you become an England International…. Foden, Sterling, Kane, Harvey Barnes, Calvin Lewin, Saka, Hudson Odoi, Sancho.. Etc etc… Nope not even close… All the best playing for Jamaica 👍

I feel he is playing within himself now, not at 100%, and needs to manage his game time with us, let alone taking on extra games internationally, with probably a lot of travel and time zone issues to deal with as well.
Great honour to play representative football, however he must remind himself of the day job commitments , which at the end of the day are what gave him the prominence.

Happy for him. Jamaica has won as many World Cups as England since 1970 so go have fun.

Brilliant player. Honest footballer. The type needed in any team. England’s loss. If he has the opportunity to experience playing international football – go go Antonio. Probably no chance of playing for Wales? Might even reach the Roger Milla heights with Jamaica. Let’s hope so. With you all the way Michail. Go for it, give it everything and enjoy your international career.
