Milan Defender Linked I I’d Rather Have Thilo Back!

At the same time as former Hammer Thilo Kehrer is paraded as the most effective centre back in Europe, (whoscored.com), West Ham are being linked with another centre back at more than twice the price we sold Kehrer for. Infuriating, as soon as a player leaves West Ham he becomes a world beater. The truth is displayed for all to see:

Ex Hammer Thilo Kehrer – Shoulda’ kept him!

So, whether it was a Moyes sale or a Steidten sale, it was a bad deal for the club and Kehrer had much, much more to offer. Couldn’t we just use him now. I don’t think he was ever really fully utilised by West Ham, playing as a right back most of the time.

So, to see links today between West Ham United and centre back Fikayo Tomori via Milan Live feels like The Hammers may be considering compounding one bad decision with another if the interest in Tomori leads to an offer in January.

Yes we need another centre-back.

But: Tomori has had an error strewn season with AC Milan and is falling out of favour. Apparently there are ‘issues’ with his attitude too. Not something anyone could ever claim of Thilo Kehrer who was a brilliant squad asset.

Haven’t we already got one error – prone central defender? To pay twenty something million euros for another seems pointless. Frankly, if he’s not good enough for AC Milan, he isn’t good enough for West Ham United. Why would they sell him if he was as good as is being suggested?

That’s a ‘pass’ on that one, please, West Ham. There are far better quality defenders out there.

We have outgrown the error strewn and the ‘questionable attitude’ players. Should have kept Kehrer !

If the next one is not a step up from Kehrer, we don’t want him. Next.

If Kehrer was still at West Ham, he wouldn’t be starting over Kilman or Todibo. It’s a shame it didn’t work out for him, but I think he is where he needs to be & everyone looks good in a different league, but not everyone can cut in the premier league. Let’s just hope that when we come to sell Aguerd, we get some decent money for him. Fornals & Benrahma would still be there, if it wasn’t for Moyes, but all we can do is focus on the players we have at the club & with no Europe or cup distractions, just focus on finishing as high up in the league as we can.

Both Kehrer and Fornals were generally played out of position. Who decided their sale?
Aguerd seems to be doing ok in Spain. Haller rediscovered scoring as soon as he got to Ajax and went on to break records. Maybe these were not such bad players after all? The only West Ham player at the recent England – Greece game, Mavropanos (whose errors are always being emphasized) did rather well for Greece. By the way, in our search for a striker, maybe Pavlidis could have been a valid answer…

Playing well in the French league does not equate to performing in the premier league

Thilo got played out of position at right back. He started well centrally but David Moyes had a fondness for playing players out of position. If it worked would that have gone down as a David Moyes master stroke?
It didn’t work but for some reason that was Thilo’s fault.

There’s a fair bit of that nonsense still happening now with Kudus playing left wing while we have two left wingers in the squad.
Bowen has had his second round of being played up top. Why isn’t it good enough that he’s one of the best inverted right wingers around?
I’d have Thilo back in a heartbeat but only if he’s played in position at centre back.
