FROM Callum Wilson’s huge impact as a substitute yesterday, the fallacy of Graham Potter’s ‘we don’t need a striker‘ policy from the summer window has been well and truly exposed. Introducing Wilson late-on produced immediate results as the forward produced perfect hold up play and released Jarrod Bowen to score the Hammers’ goal.

Niclas Fullkrug’s departure cannot come soon enough and West Ham have been widely linked with AC Milan’s unsettled Santiago Giminez who cannot get into the Milan side.

At 24 he’s the perfect age to bring to the club – and it seems his owners are now coming around to the idea of selling him next month. As football-italia.net report:

‘Milan evaluate Gimenez future as Premier League clubs show interest’:

“Leeds United and West Ham are both monitoring Gimenez’s situation and could offer the regular football he currently lacks in Serie A. Milan, for their part, will only move for another forward if the Mexican does depart in January.”

As a Fullkrug upgrade and a player with a long future ahead of him, Gimenez ticks all of the boxes which the German didn’t. Whether West Ham are happy to take a punt on his injury history is the key.

Gimenez- rumours ramping up as window nears

They’ve been bitten by that gamble before. Currently recovering from an ankle injury, Gimenez missed chunks of last season with hamstring and calf problems according to besoccer.com: Every player of course goes through the toll which training and playing takes on their legs but at just 24 years old his powers of recovery will be at their peak.

Got to take a chance on someone, another failed January window won’t do.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

Yes we have a couple of Youngsters like Marshall and Cummings who should be backed and unleashed, we need pace, press and movement in the front half

  • Kenny Irons says:

For crying out loud we don’t want another sick note- when will this club ever learn.
Let’s sign a striker without any injury history – the West Ham Infirmary has run out of beds,!anyway !!

  • Gaz says:

Yep. And bring Alvarez back now that we have a decent manager.

Hardly plays or scores and injury prone so we have scouted this man well and he fits the club perfectly……Josh Sargent for me rather than Need to get up to speed player from Europe
