Milan Raid West Ham for Key Defender

According to breaking news in the Italian media, AC Milan are lining up a transfer move for West Ham left-back Emerson Palmieri.

The Rossoneri have been tracking the player for some time, but it is reported that the Italian international has no desire to play understudy to Theo Hernandez. Therefore, Milan may look to sell Hernandez in order to make a move for Emerson who has been outstanding for The Hammers.

Whilst Emerson was born and raised in Brazil, he plays for the Italian national team and has played club football in Serie A from 2014 to 2018, spending the first season with Palermo and the following three with Roma.

The transfer interest from Milan may explain why West Ham are continuing to scout and monitor numerous left-backs both domestically and overseas. The Hammers have recently tied Aaron Cresswell down to a new long-term contract, but make no mistake about it, any bids for Emerson would be most unwelcome.

West Ham are considering a move for former Tottenham left-back Ryan Sessegnon on a free transfer, according to Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg.

If they really want Emerson and will have to offload Hernandez to do so then I’d take a swap deal

Van der Vaart: “Theo Hern├índez, I think it’s a very average player. It’s the same with his brother. These two think they are really good, I think they are not good at all. They are lucky to play for such clubs.”

      I concur

    Cresswell long term contract ?
1 yr extension is not that long is it ?(re Cresswell)
We never spend big on wing backs ..
Emerson is probably the most expensive (wage wise) I wouldnt let him go unless he puts a request in …but then again he always plays better with Paqueta and if he gets suspended or sold (Paqueta)I would probably cash in on Emerson aswell if we can get good money for him and upgrade …

Emerson is very limited, he isnt a good defender, when he goes forward he lacks energy to get back and defend, totally overrated cash in !

Yes I agree, I could have throttled him, last home game against Luton. He lost the ball high up the field, and just jogged back, showed no effort to get back behind the ball or try and retrieve it.

  • Kevlar says:

West ham need fast wingbacks that can get up and down the field to play in Lopeteguis system. We should be targeting young energetic fast players who can cross the ball from the bye line for assists for our forwards. This is the only way forward for us nowadays, otherwise get left behind in football terms!
