With Nuno Espírito Santo effectively freezing out several former first team players, the Hammers head towards a January transfer window in urgent need of reinforcement. Along with Ward Prowse, Rodriguez and now apparently Luis Guilherme, strike Niclas Fullkrug seems to have become the latest out of favour Hammer destined for the ‘for sale’ aisle next month.

The German’s terrible fitness record and gentle aimless amble around the Vitality Stadium as a late substitute in the Bournemouth draw doesn’t appear to have endeared him to Espírito Santo. West Ham need a January Fullkrug upgrade, but need the German gone in order to finance his successor.

Fullkrug to AC Milan – hope for West Ham fans that there’s a suitor for their want-away striker

Which makes the news that a new suitor has emerged very welcome. As AC Milan fan site siempremilan.com reports, the German is on the Italian giants’ January shopping list:

“Jean-Philippe Mateta and Niclas Fullkrug are two of AC Milan’s targets for the centre-forward position, currently evaluating a January signing.

Given the lack of goals from their strikers, namely Santiago Gimenez and Christopher Nkunku, Milan are looking to reinforce the squad in January….However, after spending about €158m in the summer to reinforce the squad, Milan don’t exactly have a massive budget for the upcoming window. “

Which makes a loan – perhaps with purchase option at a modest fee –  for the German even more likely: Whatever the impact for club finances, fans and Nuno will doubtless be pleased to see the back of the hapless German whose three goals in a year and a half have cost about £9 million apiece. Without factoring in his £4.5 million annual salary.

Offloading the ‘want-away’ German would draw a veil over the whole sad affair and allow West Ham supporters an element of hope that the next frontman to grace the London Stadium might actually be able to stay fit and put the ball in the net.

From the old Bobby Moore Upper to the Billy Bonds' stand these days - sometimes- have to admit I have not renewed my season ticket... I've been watching since '03 and a supporter since about 1970..
Favourite player - Dean Ashton: Still watch YouTube repeats of the Cup Final of 2006 hoping in vain that Shaka Hislop grows six inches and stops Steven Gerrard's injury time equaliser. Can tell I'm getting old knowing I saw both Mark Noble's debut and his last game at West Ham.
Pulling on a Claret and Blue replica shirt still makes me feel the same butterflies as when I was seven years old. Magic.

First instinct is what can he offer them ? If it’s true though why not do a straight swap with Gimenez on loan until end of season seems low risk and gives both sides an option to make it permanent if it works for both sides ?

I’d like to see Niclas score a few hat-tricks for us before he goes anywhere.

Swap deal for Fullkrug and Santiago Gimenez ??? We are constantly linked with the Mexican aren’t we?
