Mirror man names four summer striker targets

LuisDaily Mirror man and friend of this site Darren Lewis, says West Ham have been alerted to in-form Sampdoria striker Luis Muriel. The 25-year-old Colombia international, who’s scored 10 goals and contributed nine assists in 28 games for the Italians this season, has a £24million release clause in his contract.

His form has led to interest from Chelsea and a whole host of other clubs from around Europe. And the Colombian has now revealed that, while he is happy at Sampdoria, he does have plenty of offers on the table.

“My first personal objective is to beat my record of 11 Serie A goals,” Muriel told Radio Magica. “I’m only missing two, the best was that one against Roma.

“The future? I’m happy at Sampdoria, because we’ve won two League derbies for the first time in 57 years.

“But I’ve had several offers from Juventus, Inter, Milan and Roma in Italy, but also from abroad, in Spain and England.”

The well connected Lewis adds that  West Ham are already monitoring the situations involving Liverpool’s little-used Daniel Sturridge , Chelsea misfit Michy Batshuayi and AC Milan marksman Carlos Bacca, who they have been linked with in the last two transfer windows .

We’re still looking at Bacca?! Why not look at younger players? Look what Monaco are doing with youngsters! If Schalke and Leverkusen don’t make Europe this year, surely we could tempt some of their players with more ££ (Hernandez, Embolo, Calhanoglu, Brandt, Tah etc)? Come on Daves, get some new ideas!

I think is is a space filler when no news is available why bother to link west ham with top players and in the same article say they have had offers from bigger clubs it is a nonsense they will obviously take the best club unfortunately it is not West Ham

The most likely transfer I would think is Defoe, he won’t be bothered that we aren’t in Europe.

this does seem a case of lazy journalism from Lewis, three out of the four players are the same names pretty much any West Ham fans could name. These have been constantly linked with us for the past 12 months as have every striker in europe. Luis Muriel is a new name but I’ll be honest & say I know nothing about the lad. his record for this season looks good on paper & if ‘bigger’ are interested (agent talk to up the price???) there must be something about him.
out of those four names I would say Sturridge would be the most likely & maybe Batyboy who is wasting his time at Chelski. Bacca no chance imho why would he come to a mid-table Prem team?
