Misery continues for Anderson

Felipe Anderson’s misery continues after he was left out of FC Porto’s matchday squad tonight.

He has only played 52 minutes of football in the five matches at which he has been on loan at Porto.

He came on a 59th minutes substitute with former Hammer Toni Martinez against Sports Lisbon on 17th October in a 2-2 draw for his 31-minute debut.

He also came on as a 72nd-minute substitute against Pacos Ferreira in a 3-2 loss on 30th October playing a further 18 minutes for Porto.

However, there was no room for Anderson in Porto’s 23 man match squad in the Champions League against Marseille tonight.

Porto manager Sergio Conceicao has suggested that Felipe Anderson must work harder, when speaking to DESPORTO AO MINUTO, as the West Ham loanee continues to struggle in Portugal

The head coach told reporters “Felipe knows that in order to return to having brilliant moments as he had [so far in his career], it is necessary to work hard. Anything he does now [at Porto] can have great positive results in the future. And everything that has already happened [in his career] no longer matters, it stays in the bank. The important thing is what he will do at FC Porto.”

Anderson agreed a season loan with Porto with the Portuguese side paying his £100,00o plus per week wages and a significant loan fee.

  1. When is he going to realise that he needs to work his socks off to be a professional athlete and not shy away from the slightest challenge. The biggest coward I have see. In claret and blue since Mathew etherington

  2. I wouldn’t think that anyone will want Felipe to fail at Porto, as the whole objective must be for him to thrive at Porto and come back to us as a re-energised player who then goes on to fulfil his full potential with us.
But, he is currently showing what many of us could see in him. A player so low in confidence, that he would struggle to hold down a place in a decent championship side. His problems don’t now seem limited to his adjustment to British football either.
This is his biggest test in football, a test that he will have to meet and beat.. a make or break one.
Fingers crossed that something clicks within Felipe, and he finds his form.

    • Definitely what everyone wants him to succeed raise value confidence etc. Felipe I like but was always a risk bc at Lazio was inconsistent too. Always has blown hot & cold, if he could have a good 2-3 month’s like he did during Nov Dec time for us then hopefully get him on radar. Even without his contract I can’t see is getting what we paid back for him – I don’t see him playing much under Moyes unless really turns it around. With his wages too it’s a shame that’s few months his first season getting 9 goals was on fire but we can’t afford luxury players like that.
Still being linked with Cabral too & now Margera latter I think be wise to stay away from bc wages & age former does looks a huge talent but do we need to spend big on a Left winger.

Perhaps a little harsh, more like the lion in Wizard of Oz.
Looks like they have already give up on him. Bring him back, loan him to EFL and hope he finds his way.
