Moans as Irons enter market- err WHAT?

EminSo this was going to be the window when no business was done!

But should Emmanuel Emenike join Sam Byram in the next few days as seems very likely with Mauro Zarate’s departure, there’s going to be a lot of people saying: “Told you so!”

It means that the Davids are still to complete a January without making a signing or two in the winter window after 25 years in the business.

They will claim Byram was forced on them because Everton were on the case but who knows how successful or otherwise Emenike is likely to prove. One leading agent told me earlier today that he looked a fantastic prospect a few years back but never really fulfilled his potential.

His career started at MP Black Aces and progressed through Cape Town, Karabukspor, Fenerbache, Spartak Moscow, back to Fenrbache and is currently at Al Ain on loan.

He has scored a total of 80 goals in 185 appearances but this is no place to make judgements on how good or otherwise he may be given the type of clubs he’s joined.

I’ve got to say it’s hard to see how he will get regular football when AC and Sak are back but hey after the business the club’s done this last few months who are we to complain.

And that brings me to the point of this blog! Since becoming aware that we are in for the bloke I’ve seen all sorts of odd comments on social media complaining that we are active in the market when DS and DG said we wouldn’t be.

Several were complaining that the club had misled them and that owners would be better off keeping their mouths shut because they were making themselves look foolish, err WHAT?

If we’re not active it’s wrong. Now it seems if we are there are reasons for complaint if we are. I also find it hard to believe that there are many who would not want to be kept up to speed on what the club may or may not be doing.

That we are makes West Ham an exception to the rule given that the likes of Daniel Levy, the Fenway group and the Glazers run their clubs as though they are a branch of MI6.

I’m more than happy to know what’s going on and I’d be very surprised indeed if there are many who would prefer the club to live under a cloak of impenetrable silence.

Who’d be a club owner? Most of the time it’s a lose/lose situation!

  1. Can’t please all people all of the time I guess Hugh, I have an open mind on this guy, lets see what he can do, never know he might surprise us and give the team that lift they need by scoring 10 goals inbetween now and the end of the season…

  2. What I read here is an imitation of a politician who deliberately misreads someone’s words to make their own point.
There is nothing odd about what you are quoting people as saying. They are merely saying that the owners shouldn’t have said, repeatedly, they would not be buying if they had an idea they might. They never said they want the owners to never say anything…makes perfect sense to me

  3. It’s happy canchaz as usual, politicians lie Hugh is telling the truth,if we turn a blind eye to improve our team it would be mismanagement,
In the past we have moaned that we let on to early about transfer targets then the others such as the spuds try and muddier the waters or step in and we all moan,
The right back coming in is great although keeping him for next season would be madness
Zarate and Jelavic do not feel the love and want regular football so if we can get a CF that can cover AC and Sak it makes good sense,
Who cares if the 2 Daves don’t give us the fall facts as long as things get better, and st the time of saying no transfer activity he might have meant it,the Right back situation was not their making but letting a target escape would be criminal,
Good post Hugh and good luck with the political future but don’t count on happy canchaz vote

  4. Say no more bubs, spot on !! Like all buisness,s if you tell you’re opposition what you are up to they will try to outdo you . The Dave’s should keep it tight to their chest and do the buisness which benefits the club ,

  5. Why do some think they should be privvy to the boards plans?I just dont get why some think they are so important they should be informed of all the clubs decisions.if Emenike does the business for us will you still reject him on the grounds you were not told before we brought him in. How arrogant .

  6. I seem to remember people saying , who the hell is Lanzini, well we know now, so who says this Emineke guy can’t have the same impact.
If he doesn’t then we send him back, it is only a short term loan anyway.

  7. Better to say no business and pull off a sweet deal.
I believe the PR has improved since Slav’ s arrival.
    More good surprises please COYI
