Modest Coufal on THAT goal

Haller’s sensational goal – courtesy ww.whufc.com

Vladimir Coufal snubbed ant idea of self congratulations after his sensational display against Crystal Palace.

Instead he wanted to celebrate Seb Haller’s spectacular goal of the month qualifier which finally brought a smile to the striker’s face.

But we simply can’t underestimate the right back’s  part in the build up which followed a run and cross set up finally by a Lanzini slide rule pass.

It was the highlight moment of the night and made a mockery of the money we paid for the Czech who was total man of the match.

Afterwards he made it clear he was simply doing his job and made no comment at all on how he may or may not have played in the great scheme of things which was great to see and hear.

Instead he mad his admiration for the French born Ivory Coast international the first thing of his lips at the end of a tough 90 minutes.

He told https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/december/16-december/vladimir-coufal-sebs-goal-was-perfect-team“It’s my job to get crosses into the box and Seb is a great attacker.

“It’s a good finish – he tried it in practice and now it’s goal of the month maybe!

“My job is crosses and defence, and his job is to finish it to score the goals. He scored the goal and it’s perfect for the team.

“Of course we’re disappointed that we couldn’t get the win, but I have to say that Crystal Palace were a very tough opponent.

“They played a good and physical game, with strong counter-attacks. They have good forwards like Eze and Zaha, so we have to take the point because it was a tough game.”
