MOM Antonio’s big moan up

Michail Antonio was absolutely outstanding against Chelsea as the irons completed their first double over the south west London outfit since 2003.

Despite his injuries and regular links with other clubs ‘Mikey’ remains a Hammer after five years and at 30 has another year left on his deal.

His pace, energy and courage was shown in abiundance against the Blues and he was voted man of the match by Claret and Hugh’s readers on match day ratings.

He scored one goal of course and supplied the assist for the winner whilst producing a performance which was astonishing in its range.

Pouring sweat in a post match interview he also showed that sense of humour which is never far away wjhen this guy is in front of a ‘mike.’

It will be inrresting to see whether he continues in the one up role on Sunday should Deb Haller be ready to return fdor a game which could see the Hammers climb another step on the safety ladder.

Afterward the front man told Sky Sports: ” It shows the grit we’ve got and we’re not gonna give up, we’re gonna fight until the end.

I really dislike VAR. I really dislike it. This season, so many things haven’t gone our way. It’s gone against us so many times. Today, it didn’t stop us, we kept going.

“It was hard. They keep the ball so well. They play unbelievable football. They pin us in when they lose it, they press us straight away, so I’ve got to get on loose balls and try to keep it for the team.

“It was very hard, but we showed the grit we’ve got, the fight we’ve got and the determination we’ve got. We’re gonna keep going until the end and make sure we’re safe.
