The Sun has decided that Bobby Moore should be lampooned and “dressed” in OTT comedy American gear to support some story about Wembley being sold.
I don’t care one way or the other whether the stadium is sold to the Yanks or not if I’m brutally honest but I care very much about the greatest English captain of all time in any sport being disrespected in such a way.
It should be no surprise that such an awful rag looks for new depths to plunge – sadly of course they probably don’t realise that’s what they are doing.
Quite how Stephanie and the family feel I don’t know but that The Sun should take one of the most iconic pictures of all time and use it in such a way is pretty horrible.
Only Mooro gets the Yank treatment with George Cohen, our right back on that historic day in ’66, and hat-trick hero Hursty left untouched.
To lampoon Mooro is just about as cheap as it gets and even allowing for the fact that this is The Sun – it’s totally unacceptable for me.

The picture is in bad taste and the newspaper is unquestionably awful. You are quite right.
But twice in the past two few days you have knocked it. You worked for the Sport! Without doubt the worst tabloid newspaper ever – essentially pages of naked women and what we would now call ‘fake news’.
I think all the tabloids are as bad as each other the mirror is as big a joke as any of these and even the independent is bang average these days, the Sport probably has a higher content of quality at least for the male readers anyway 😉
