More mystery over Dawson’s condition

Match winner Craig Dawson seemed to be struggling again last night with the West Ham medical team coming on last night after he went down again without anyone near him.

After being offered a drink by the medics he carried on to score the only goal and take West Ham into the fourth round of the FA Cup.

The concerns come after a similar mystery with Dawson’s nineteenth-minute collapse in the game at Goodison Park.

The Watford loanee made his second appearance for West Ham against Everton and went down with a non-contact injury during the Premier League away victory.

The game was halted by the match official and Dawson looked completely out-of-sorts and appeared to be dizzy.

Dawson was attempting a clearance at the time but collapsed and received attention off the pitch before re-joining the action and carrying on for the remainder of the game.

David Moyes speaking to reporters post-match at the time confirmed the centre back felt dizzy suggesting his blood sugar was low saying he needed something to eat or some sugar as a boost to continue.

  1. Surely the players are tested regularly by the medical team for all sorts of fitness check ups?

    • Saw him stuffing something in his mouth the medics gave him, maybe an energy capsule or something? Could he be diabetic with low blood sugar? Shouldn’t he have learnt by now and take whatever he needs before the game starts?

  2. Diabetic?

  3. I initially was going to suggest he gets the “vapours”, but now suspect he is an insulin dependent diabetic who keeps control tight and is subject to low sugars. If so, it is amazing he can play at this level. Turning a thorn in his crown into a feather in his cap.
    Remarkable.

  4. Did this sugar thing ever pop up during his Watford days as well? Hope it’s not too much of a problem for him.
