MOTD misses the Sakho/Carroll point

WrightyMatch of the Day still isn’t getting it as far as West Ham are concerned although both Danny Murphy and Ian Wright were happy to put the credit where it was due last night – with us.

Murphy described us as tactically brilliant with a defensive formation that left Chelsea nowhere to go and being forced to play too many straight passes over the top…fair enough.

Ian Wright, however, seemed to miss a point as far as the strike force is concerned when discussing the relative merits of Diafra Sakho and Andy Carroll.

Wright looking at their various methods commented: “Andy Carroll has a way to go if he is to become No 1 as Sakho’ is doing a brilliant job up front.”

Absolutely true but surely the point is that the y bring totally different virtues to this fab Irons team allowing Slav to change the play when required like yesterday.

Followers of this site and the ClaretandHugh Facebook forum at have been making the point all summer and autumn long that AC is likely to be used as a massively effective impact sub as we have seen already.

Bit surprising that it has appeared to pass the MOTD boys by.
