‘It’s easier for me to praise them than criticise us. It’s easier for me to analyse internally and discuss with the players than speak about it and my feelings now. We were not good enough or strong enough to cope with the last 10 minutes.’
‘We didn’t drop off deliberately. Their belief went up and my guys were not strong enough to cope with it psychologically.
‘I told them to keep the same (at half-time) and be aware of lots of set-pieces. David found a new Fellaini in Tomas Soucek.
Begrudgingly, Mourinho the king of backhanded compliments, it sounds a little like that is our one-dimensional plan?
Which team wouldn’t utilise Soucek’s height at set-pieces? It’s not like he was brought specifically for his height or that he turned out to play an integral role in the goals that they conceded.
But… whilst worrying about him, they were able to miss others, so maybe it is a good thing that the spuds were also worrying about what we could do to them, rather than focusing on what they were going to do to us.

Well said, Jose. Always had time for that guy.
Keep playing like that, boys. We won’t always be up against teams that score 3. If we win all of ours 5:4 I’ll be a happy hammer. We look as though we are capable of lots of goals every game playing this way.
Just a couple of points – Cresswell – you need to stop ball-watching. You can watch later. While you’re playing you need to be awake and alert. Anticipate anything that you are able to affect. Kane has more trouble scoring Spurs’ third if you’re concentrating on making it difficult for him instead of spectating the play on the other wing! Otherwise – you’re doing a great job, Aaron.
And hoping that everyone is practising penalties in the style of Ray Stewart, Geoff Hurst and Julian Dicks. Mark, Kevin and Stuart can teach penalty taking in this fashion. Get it done lads. No Zazas.

Mourinho is right about Souchek being like Fellaini. I’m surprised he didnt congratulate the agent that discovered him. He is right about it being the belief In the West Ham players that led to that comeback also. I wonder whether it would have been possible without the preceding two games, the four nil, the three nil? I wonder whether it would have been possible in a stadium full of West Ham fans, all booing and protesting and generally creating a negative atmosphere after going three nil down at home, or whether it would have been possible in a stadium full of Tottenham fans getting right behind their team after going three nil up?
