Before Aaron-Wan Bissaka arrived at West Ham and wowed us with his skill set, I wondered what all the fuss was about: After all, if he was that good, Manchester United wouldn’t have let him leave for a ‘mere’ £15 million, would they?
Well, now we know different: ‘The Spider’ has been simply outstanding and an incredible steal from Old Trafford with his tackling ability and his attacking threat on both the right had side – and who knew- on the left!
I suspect the same result could well occur if West Ham succeed in their attempt to sign Kyle Walker Peters from Southampton on a ‘free’ when his contract expires in June.
Linked last summer, the Hammers are one of about four Premier League sides eager to attract him after the season ends but perhaps now the opportunity of playing an a Potter – shaped West Ham side will be a big lure for the 27 year old in the summer.
Walker Peters certainly impressed during Saints’ games against West Ham – genuinely pacy and versatile, being able to play on both flanks and higher up the pitch – can you imagine him and Wan-Bissaka in the same team? Givemesport report that West Ham are one of several PL clubs already courting the defender in their article “West Ham Tracking Walker-Peters” – the Saints defender turned down a winter move to Galatasaray as he wants to stay in the Premier League.
I’m excited already – the attacking options both players would offer as well as their defensive capabilities would make the Hammers far stronger all round and just needing a full time centre-forward to get on the end of the crosses!
Ollie scarles will do that as well as walker-peters but is younger and has more scope for improvement as unlike walker-peters he’s not at his peak yet and will be different class when he is in my opinion
Why would you say that about young players? Let’s give the boys some encouragement eh, these are young men mr potter must see something in so if he’s willing why can’t we be?
What’s this all about Dave?
Potter’s link to Brighton has led to him being associated with a couple of their players.
Adam West (c/bk)_aged 30
Has had a number of injuries and doesn’t do much for reducing team’s age problem or any sell on value.
Other player is Tariq Lamptey similar in make up to KWP.
Both play right or left back. West Ham linked to them both. Contracts run out in summer. Similar ages and pace.
Attacking ability Lamptey is more aggressive very much like Bissaka.
Pairing of Lamptey and Bissaka looks a much better option.
Obviously Potter’s dealings with Brighton appear to put them on same wavelength
