Moyes’ academy approach
Maybe the time has come to be a little more tolerant over David Moyes‘ academy attitude and those he has allowed to leave over the past months. Mind you, I don’t believe that he is being fair to the likes of Divin Mubama – as is being proved by the contract stand off – or come to that Callum Marshall who is scoring goals at a rate of knots rarely seen in Premier League Two or anywhere else.
Having said that, when allowing the likes of Sonny Perkins, Jamal Baptiste, Harrison Ashby and others to depart West Ham he made his reasons very clear – to allow what he considers better players to come through. And the FA Youth Cup victory last season and the under 21s fabulous form this term seems to suggest we are are developing a bunch of really good young players.
Among the others we can get excited about are George Earthy, Ollie Scarles, Dan Chesters, Freddie Potts and Lewis Orford, who by the way has been tipped as the next Declan Rice. So, yes, it is right to be excited but the problem remains at the other level – when is he going to give them their chances of making at least some impression at the top level?
If he allows the “better” players he has been talking about as his reasons for letting others go, there really will be a problem if he continually refuses to give them chances. We can’t afford to lose these kids so come on Moyes give them their chances. He may be right at one level but entirely wrong at the other.
Where are the better players than mubama and Marshall .

Exactly!!!!!
I watched the U18 FA cup final and I was shocked at how good that team performed against a very talented Arsenal. You are correct Hugh there is a wealth of young talent at our club and I wish more of these games could be viewed. We also have some excellent coaches that are working with the youngsters and just wish DM could get his boys playing a similar style.
