Twelve minutes of added time in the playoff final at Wembley – and they were still playing. Sunderland romped over the line thanks to a ninety-fifth minute goal to defeat Sheffield United and become the third side promoted to the Premier League along with Leeds and Burnley.
Have to feel sympathy for Sheffield united fans, Hammers’ supporters certainly know what that late sickener goal feels like having fallen foul of late defeats themselves this season: Although to lose a play off final from a goal that late – has be a real ‘kick in the blades’.
David Moyes and Graham Potter were on course to clash over the recruitment of key members of the Sunderland team, having both made public their desire to try and recruit the same midfielders out of the Black Cats if they failed to secure Premier League status.
Dan Neil was reported a David Moyes’ Everton target whilst Graham Potter and West Ham were hotly tipped to sign Chris Rigg – Sunderland’s youngest midfielder at 17. Now, more than likely both Moyes and Potter will go empty handed as the trio of Bellingham, Neil and Rigg enjoy the fruits of their labour with their adoring Sunderland fans celebrating like crazy.
Back to the drawing board for the Hammers, then, as that ninety fifth minute goal more than likely put a spanner in West Ham’s summer recruitment works as well as breaking Blades’ fans’ hearts.
With the Blades loosing 🤣🤣🤣 … I’d like to see Hamer a Hammer to be fair. He’s got something we could benefit from and p!ss of the Blades even more!! Great result that…
Missing out on one wonder kid shouldn’t be a problem with amount queuing up to into whu!!!
Instead of being upset, we could pay more attention to Sheffield United’s young left-back Harrison Burrows, who is 23 years old. He has been having a great second season in a row, scoring goals and providing assists. He is a very good defender who could give Oliver Scarles a run for his money.
When your master sells the club? Will you still have a Job? I hope not? Mug.
Thank god for that I watched their semi finals and the final today and the midfield was almost non existent except for the quality of Bellingham which shone like a beacon among the rest of the bang average performers. I think we have dodged a bullet and I’m really happy about it.
This is a great result for west ham, Sunderland are unlikely to make the step up and likely to fill one of the relegation places leaves us just two to avoid.
Mate are you for real ? Have a bit of thought about what you are writing and the history of our club before you jot down such utter rubbish.
Feel sympathy for Sheff United fans, what are you on ?
Call yerself a West Ham fan ? If yer true West Ham you shoulve been laughing yer ass off when that Sunderland goal went in,do you not remember Carlos Tevez then ?
At least with Sunderland winning we won’t finish rock bottom next season now.
There is not one bit of sympathy for the “blunts”
🤣🤣
Sullivan out!!!!!!
Say’s the reader who posted the same in bad taste comment using the name of the late D. Gold.
Root cause definitely Tevez
Have to feel sympathy for Sheffield united fans
Seriously, are you having a laugh ? Suffering with amnesia ?
No doubt, they will blame Tevez for being denied
I was going to say exactly the same!
