Moyes at West Ham as early as Monday

Gary Lineker told BBC Match of the day viewers that West Ham are about to sack Slaven Bilic and David Moyes could be appointed as early as Monday. Former West Ham manager was asked whether that would surprise him.

Big Sam told Gary “No it wouldn’t surprise me because there were rumours around not so long ago that Slaven had two games or three games, I think no contract extension in the summer in his last year of contract as it all points out that the first ten games for Slaven were the most important and he knew that”

Lineker asked Danny Murphy, whether Moyes would be a good appointment for the Hammers “Absolutely, he is experienced, he will get them a lot harder to bear that is for sure.”

  1. I, for one, absolutely do not agree with Lineker that Moyes is the man for the job. Lineker states that he will make West Ham hard to beat. That certainly was not the case with his tenure at Sunderland ! If this is to be West Ham’s immediate managerial future, it smacks of panic in the boardroom. Please, please, please reconsider this stupid decision – it will only make matters worse !

  2. And if Moyes does an ‘ok’ job he will get the position permenantly you watch. Slav has been a rabbit in the headlights for over a year but its this skinflint board that are gonna kill our club. Sad times.

  3. I should have said, Danny Murphy. Sorry, Gary.

  4. I feel slightly better about Moyes than I did last night. The big question mark is Sunderland, but they had been a basket case for several years. And I may be wrong but I don’t think he was given much of a transfer budget(?)

Like Bilic he is a good man who will not disgrace the club. He had a good record at Everton & always built a solid team. On the other side there is Sunderland. Also he needs to get a firm commitment from the owners that he can fill problem positions in Jan. I would be concerned that having been out of work for some time his bargaining position is weak. I wonder ifhis problems in his last few jobs suggest he is a bit too ‘old school’. He will be too defensive for some. But it strikes me that the clubs we are competing with who are doing ok- Brighton, Newcastle, Leicester, Burnley are all adopting an approach based on minimising the damage against the big clubs & nicking 1-0 results ( unless they are Brighton playing us!!

But we are where we are. Up a creek with no paddle. What I would really like to have seen was somebody to come in & sort out this club from top to bottom. That’s what is needed.

    • Agree it’s just seems how he was at Sunderland he is not to mgr u want in our situation. How hope if he is made mgr he does good players get on w him & will get a lil money in Jan to adress midfield.
Just not the person I think many thought would be the choice.

      • If it is a short term appointment contract until the end of the season or 18 months thats ok but the chairmen really need to get with the programme and understand how far the game is moving on in this country then get a manager that can instill that to our players , the days of training once a day are long gone everyone should be training twice a day and be tactically aware going into matches, against Liverpool and any clubs with a system we are undone(easilly), we have no plan offensively but Lanzini usually creates some chances and defensively we have no structure at all, it is only when ginge plays and puts his body on the line constantly that we see any backbone in the defence, Reid isn’t a captain and neither is Noble they are both decent players but not proper leaders imo. Lets hope that whatever decision is made it proves to be the correct one COYI !
