David Moyes has addressed his departure from West Ham United, assuring fans and the club there are no hard feelings despite the swift announcement of his exit. He believes it’s the natural progression after raising expectations during his successful four-year spell.

Incoming manager Julen Lopetegui will be officially unveiled after the Premier League season concludes, taking the reins from Moyes.

Moyes had previously suggested a decision would be made after the final game. However, the club announced his departure a day after a heavy loss to Chelsea, limiting his opportunity to speak with all his players.

Despite the suddenness, Moyes emphasises there’s no animosity towards the club, fans, or players. He acknowledges the club’s ambition has risen significantly during his tenure, and perhaps a change is needed to maintain that trajectory.

Moyes highlights his positive impact, reminding everyone that he inherited a team battling relegation and is leaving them in a much stronger position. He also delivered the club’s first trophy in 43 years with a Europa Conference League victory last season.

Looking ahead, Moyes suggests consistently challenging for the top six might be difficult for West Ham due to their financial limitations compared to other top clubs.

Exhausted from three seasons of European competition, Moyes plans a well-deserved break. He’ll be working for BBC during the Euros and spending quality time with family before considering his next managerial challenge.

Thanks again Mr Moyes !
