West Ham boss David Moyes knows he is currently facing the best manager in the world this afternoon and possibly the best ever.
How active Pep Guardiola will be in the dug out after his back injury remain to be seen but his absence through surgery hasn’t affected his team this season with him obviously directing things from behind the scenes.
And Moyes admits that it’s a photo finish between the Spaniard and Sir Alex ferguson as the beast the world has seen.
Thats why a Hammers win today would be seen as something of a footballing miracle but despite the manager’s justifiable opinion none of us will be counting it out given our own remarkable early season form.
With the creative midfield available to us goal chances have been appearing much more readily than last season bearing out Moyes’ words of last season when he pledged to have the squad working in that area.
Speaking at the pre-match presser he said: “It’s between Pep and Sir Alex Ferguson [for the greatest manager ever]. There are lots and lots of great managers, and I think Sir Alex would always challenge anybody with his record.
But what Pep had brought to football in the last 15 years has changed the game. He’ll continue to win trophies because he’s got a good team with good players.”
