West Ham’s supposed interest in one ageing winger—namely Raheem Sterling—seems to have slightly overshadowed the transfer tittle-tattle surrounding a certain Jack Grealish.
When it comes to unwanted wide men at big clubs, the Hammers have been linked with both players. However, it now appears Everton might be about to swoop in for the hair-banded, low-socked version.
Grealish and Toffees boss David Moyes aren’t two names I’d naturally associate together. Yet reports suggest Everton are negotiating with Manchester City over a season-long loan deal for the former £100m man.
Two weeks ago, Claret & Hugh were told there was zero interest in Grealish from anyone at West Ham—whether the board, agents, or management. That would appear to rule the Irons out completely.
Meanwhile, ExWHUEmployee has since confirmed that West Ham are not in the market for a winger at all—so presumably, that rules out Sterling too. No great loss, judging by the fan reaction to yesterday’s story.
With Crysencio Summerville reportedly set to return to the fold soon, the logic behind that decision becomes even clearer.
Sources have told Claret & Hugh today that the club is budgeting for a midfielder and goalkeeper to arrive before the window closes.
So it seems David Moyes and Everton had a clear run at Grealish after all—even if the idea of Jack and Moyesie working together still feels like something of an odd couple.
Odd couple? Moyes bought Bowen, Benrhama, Kudus and Paqueta in his time with us
Yeah Moysie loves a maverick I think.
Interesting use of the word coup. At this rate Everton fans, new stadium or not, are going to be borrowing the ‘Moyes Out!’ placards from old Hammers fans by November
As an Evertonian iv said he May get a season but not two.I didn’t want him in the first place but delighted with what he has done so far.
