David Moyes has confirmed that Michail Antonio will not be available for Sunday’s Premier Game against Leicester City.
Speaking to reporters at his virtual pre match press conference on Friday lunchtime the manger told reporters “We obviously have a couple of of injuries and I don’t think Mick is not going to make this game”
Moyes likes to be vague with his injury updates and today was no exception refusing to be drawn in to further discussion on his only striker.
It was a similar response when asked about Declan Rice’s situation with the him responding “I won’t give you any more information, we will try and get him back as quickly as we can but we won’t put a timescale on it”
Claret and Hugh understands that Michail has suffered a grade 2 tear keeping him out for between four to eight weeks with a small chance of a more lengthy spell on the sidelines.
At best he could return for the game against Everton on 8th May. Rice is responding well to rest and rehab and his absence is hoped to be just five weeks which should mean he is available for the last three or four games of the season possibly returning on the Everton game on 8th May or the Brighton game on 11 May.
