David Moyes was coy when asked if it was his ambition to win group H of the Europa League and thus avoid the Champion League dropouts round.
The manager is very careful in his approach to naming his ambitions which is probably the wisest way forward at this point.
He explained that West Ham are first-time triers at the group having not been involved for a long time and that just qualifying for the next round would be a huge success for the players and the club.Ideally. of course, he wants to win the group.
Moyes told reporters he doesn’t want to put that level of expectation on the team or the club at the moment because they are so new to it
The 58-year-old added, “Ultimately we respect Genk, Zagreb, Vienna, so I know that if we’re going to win it, we’ve got to prove it over these group games to do that.”
The Hammers sits top of Group H on the maximum six points after beating Dinamo Zagreb away in Croatia and Rapid Vienna at home at the London Stadium with 2-0 victories.
