David Moyes will get another season to sort out the West Ham mess IF he saves the Irons from relegation.
It has become par for the course that long term contracts are a non starter with the amounts of compensation involved for failure these days.
And a year’s deal is the best Moyes can expect should the Hammers still be operating as a top level club in season 2018/19.
Moyes is understood to be very keen indeed to remain at the London Stadium despite the many on and off the pitch problems that have beset him this term.
But the owners remain insistent that the decision NOT to offer a new deal when things appeared to be going well ahead of the present slump was correct.
And given that much needs to be sorted out over the summer should the club remain safe there will be no commitment beyond a season.
Although the short term deal to employ Moyes contains a break for both sides to consider their position at the end of the campaign we understand Premier League survival would seal the new deal.
Right decision, he was always going to get an extended contract, we need a long term plan and Moyes is the right man
Probably in the top 3 worst managers in the league, if he doesn’t take us down this season he will give it a good old go next season!
Get in Marco Silva you cheap skates
I think Mr Moyes deserves to be given a decent contract whether it’s 1 or 2 years, given the task it’s going to take to overhaul the whole structure of the the playing staff, he’s been with us now for a decent amount of time and obviously has seen the good the bad and the ugly squad wise also he’s got the advantage of seeing some of our talented youngsters breaking into the 1st team albeit through injuries or weak squad ….getting someone else in during the summer break would be a backwards step imho….I think he’s a grafter who when given the right monies to invest in decent players will steer us in the right direction and build a solid platform for the future that we all want …I know it’s squeaky bum time atm, but he’s only doing what he can given the players available to him..
I certainly have no qualms about him or his back room staff …
Another season of misery so. I really don’t think they are what we need but I hope they prove me wrong. IMO if he starts Jo Hart against Southampton it will make my decision up on both him and Pearce.
