Moyes dilemma as Chicharito switch rumours grow

HernandezBW726West Ham are open to offers for Javier Hernandez who appears to have no future under David Moyes at the London Stadium.
Rumours are doing the rounds that MLS club Los Angeles FC may be ready to give the Irons close to the £16 million they splashed out on what was seen as the summer marquee signing.
There was speculation last summer that LA were interested in the former Manchester United forward but he returned to the Premier League, signing for then manager Slaven Bilic at West Ham.
But neither Slaven Bilic or Moyes have seen him as a central striker and the club are now very much open to offers for the Mexican.
However the big problem facing the manager is that a Chicharito sale, plus the possible departure of Diafra Sakho. would leave him with just one recognised front man in Andy Carroll over whom there is also transfer window speculation.
Moyes prefers using Marko Arnautovic alongside Michail Antonio when possible but whether he will be prepared to see the squad stripped of strikers must be doubtful at this stage of the campaign.
That could leave him looking for one, possibly to replacements in a January window with clubs reluctant to sell their better players.

  1. My own opinion is we should stick rather than twist in January in a number of positions. Joe Hart – without Hart we would probably have lost to Shrewsbury. He has hardly been playing behind a rock solid back four and in truth his performances are on at least a par with Adrian. Added to this despite the backdrop in the media he has been a total professional.
Nobes – he gets totally unmerited abuse but when he does not play there is a total lack of leadership in midfield. He keeps the ball moving and our possession % goes up significantly. There was one guy under the name of ‘Bubbles’ who felt it was useful to visit every WH forum handing out repetitious insults – totally unhelpful.
Chicarito – he has been dealt a bad hand as he is not being played in a formation that suits. That said he could have helped himself on Sunday by getting closer to Ayew and having a bit more intensity.
Kouyate – I am not so sure. His body language is poor, and his energy and movement have gone completely downhill to an inexcusable level. I felt sorry for Cullen when Obiang and Kouyate made so little movement that he often had to look to his mate Burke as the overlapping fullback as the only outlet for a pass.
Personally I would forget about wide ranging targets and tell Burke, Oxford and Rice to make a CB position their own. Oxford and Rice can add extra numbers to cover midfield too if a replacement does not come in.Collins and Fonte are at at the end of their careers and in any case injured. Reid seems off the pace and often injured too so there should be a definite space alongside Ogbonna for one of these youngsters.
Up front Sakho needs to be moved on if anyone will take him – failing which he will run down his contract with various mysterious injuries.
Carroll and Chicarito for different reasons are not long term solutions and presumably one of them could be let go too allowing Martinez to warm the bench.
The concentration must be on a RB and a ball winning midfielder. If that happens with the right quality then I will be happy for now.

  2. Jonny I would like to stick & big fan of Chicharito he is a class finisher & passionate person & player & a very nice guy.
But he might want this close to home in Mexico & system that suits him w 2 up front w Vierra.
Not to mention w Moyes here will Chic get they system that works for him & even if does pkay 2 up top does it w out chic except for w Ayew.
So prob doesn’t see a bright future under Moyes tho I would hate to lose him & Sakho in Jan. I can see the board signing off on these bc high wages & Bilic brought in players w no idea of how they fit.

If Chic wants to go I wouldn’t blame him & wish him the best. But if we do sell him & Sakho we are down to just AC again I would give Sahko a 1 year contract on decent wages w add ons see how it goes rather then sell to Palace — others want to sell him there yes let’s give a PL proven rounded CF w pace to help a relegation rival imagine Zaha Townsend RLC & Sahko fierce attacking 4.
    Bad idea.

And if we so sell we need an out & out rounded CF like Mark Uth from Hoffehiem who only has 6mo left too 6’1 has pace well rounded 9goals & great on the break could get for a deal bc 6mo left at good age 26 & scores & fits our systems & others can pkay up front alone or w partner.

But can sell 2 CFs w our thin squad & just have AC again & no one who can get him the service.

Tbh I would rather sell Chic to LAFC then Sakho to Palace huge mistake.

We need to buy before we sell anyone & have to look outside PL more bc can expect rivals to sell us players to help us stay up. Plus money goes a lot further in other leagues & wages & need youth pace passing creativity

  3. Chicharito is a bottler, plain for all to see at the Spuds…. he spends way too much effort throwing himself on the floor too, he just doesn’t fit in to our style of play, jog him on. COYI

  4. I agree Bilic bought players who were considered good but he did not do his homework & consider how they would fit in with our current team & style of play also he had that weird habit of playing people out of their natural position ( Antonio, Snodgrass ) which did not help. So at the moment we have a few round pegs in square holes so Moyes needs to clear out the unsuitable players & try to get some decent ones who he feels will be a good fit it for our current team. I wish him luck but he has not helped himself buy stating he prefers players with P L experience, well 10 days into the transfer period & he has discovered that any players he enquiries about suddenly have a ridiculous price tag put on them, as per my earlier posts I again say he will be forced to look abroad for any new reasonable recruits because the players are good & the transfer fees are a lot lower & Sullivan has been stung twice now by the Bilic purchases ( Ayew, Chicharito, Snodgrass all overpriced ) so I think Moyes will have to look abroad for any future acquisitions.

    • So Fonte was good value?

    • Agree Claret I have been saying for weeks Moyes needs to get over this need for PL experience bc we have seen before here & other clubs can have PL experience & it doesn’t work out. Doesntean they will slot right in. Hope they will but seen players who don’t fit & jusy have higher transfer & wages & usually looking at aging players that PL clubs don’t want w no resale value.
Then you also have players around ua in table don’t want to sell us their best or even fringe players & help relegation rivals.

Pascal Gross for money £2.7m was the beat buy of summer top creator in Bundesliga for club that was relegated & he hit the ground running 4 goals 5 assists. Had part in over half their goals. What a deal imagine him w Lanzini.
We have needed extra creativity for year in half another issue that hurts or CFs lack of service. But can fint that in PL not that we can afford.

Looking at Akanji from Basel solid young CB but we have Rice & Ox pkua BVB & Spurs keen too read put in £17m offer prob not true but we should be going g after his teammate I’ve been on about Elynoussoui 23yo w pace 16 assists & 6 goals in 24 apps as CL experience too. AM CM RM & Lanzini is at is best when as other creative types around him.
Or look in championship James Madisson 21yo English 7 goals 7 assists & scores free kick goals be great add AM CM seen up front once.
Love Frankie De Jong 20yo CM covered CB too 5 apps 2 assists at Cb & 7 assists at CM 95% pass rate from AJAX.
Lots of good young hungry talented players out there ready to prove themselves in PL.
Started to look that bc Moyes is realising this all PL exp won’t work & its short term again we have Experience in team we need pace passing & Technique.
Huddersfield got Kongolo on loan & now Pritchard from Norwich £14m… 10 days still nothing firm for us can’t expect Shelvey will happen bc don’t find replacement or decide don’t want to sell to rival

  5. Hernandez has the quality if you provide him the ball in the box, if we aren’t going to play that way get rid but I would leave it until the end of the season, we may need his goals yet and if we are behind the 8 ball at the end of the season we will be gambling by committing numbers forward so he should get the supply.
